Tuula, I can sympathize with you, I’ve been battling addiction to cigarettes too. When I was first saved, God freed me from the bondage of alcohol and drugs. He has recently been convicting me about cigarettes now. So, I am trying to quit, and it is hard. I’ve been a smoker for 26 years. I will pray for you, and I hope you will pray for me also.

As far as the relationship goes, well, Galatians 5:19-21 reads: Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultry, fornication, uncleaness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkeness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Notice, the word “practice”, we all sin, but the word practice refers to not being repentent or continuing in the sin when you know it’s wrong.

You need to remove yourself from this type of relationship immediately. Pray for strength, and explain to this person that in obedience to God, you need to end this type of relationship, If the other person is a Christian, he should understand. If he is not a christian, Corinthians 6:14 reads: Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has rightousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

If he is not a Christian, maybe your obedience to God will witness to him, and draw him to the Lord.
