Home Forums Re: Why will everyone bow and confess?

Bowing is the universal sign of respect for a person of superior

status or position in society.

I believe that the prophet Isaiah’s words accurately testify to God’s superiority in the universe he (God) created: ” ‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Is 55:8-11)

And, writing about the Lord Jesus, the apostle Paul wrote, “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.” (Phil 2:6-11)

On the Day of Judgement, Christ will be revealed in his full glory and power and (to put it mildly) all people will be awestricken and will fall to their knees as they are overwhelmed by his glory.

As to why God doesn’t do this now, the only thing I can say is that,as the Isaiah scripture stated, his thoughts and his ways are above our power of understanding. It is not ours to know this information on this side of eternity. As to your phraze “…before it is too late”, some people have refused or will refuse God’s invitation. And the timimng of Christ’s return makes no difference; they will miss eternity with the Lord because they have not sought him diligently, not because they miscalculated the time of his arrival. Its not like trying to get to a bus stop in time to meet the bus.
