Worship! What is it?

Well firstly I would say it is ‘appreciation’ of the beauty and holiness of God, particularly in comparison to our own sinful nature. Some would call this ‘praise’

Secondly I would say it is an expression of heartfelt gratitude toward a God who is undeservedly ‘merciful’ toward his creatures. Some would call this ‘thanksgiving’

Thirdly I would say it is an expression of ‘devotion’ toward an object of our ‘affection’, (having been saved, redeemed, renewed, and enlivened), by the power of God in Jesus Christ. Some would call this ‘adoration’.

All these things are not so much what we do in ‘worship services’ as the way we actually live our very lives.

We offer our whole lives as a sacrifice in thanksgiving to a bountiful and merciful God.

Love Chris.

P.S. I cant understand how this thread ‘What is worship, is it necessary?’ got tagged onto ‘What is the Trinity’ – a very old and long thread indeed.
