I don’t know which ‘church’ you are referring to. Historically the ‘Church’ that formulated the Doctrine of The Trinity has never said that God is ‘three different people’. The Creeds absolutely rule out that possibility and God has, ever since Trinitarian Doctrine was adopted, always been worshiped as a Unity of ‘persons’, each person not being an entity in themselves but each a manifestation of THE ONE TRUE GOD.
