Home Forums Re: To date or Not to date

Okay, now my feelings.

First off, I’m sorry I didn’t respond to this way sooner, but I was having some comuter problems and I was unable to sign in to the forum.

I didn’t write this try try to get advice to decide whether to date or not… (I have my own answer), and I’m sorry if it sounded like it was coming off that way to any of you, i just wanted your opinions.

IMHO, I don’t think that it’s necessary for teens to date, and me myself, well I don’t think I’ll be dating into the near future. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think dating is bad, or put anybody down who does date, I just don’t really think that God wants me to.

Here’s my opinions. In the Bible, it says “Do not awaken love until it so desires.” (SOS 4:7, or near there) and I take that to mean what happens, in my mind, in dating. As teenagers, I really think that very few of us will pursue a relationship in, say highschool, for more than a couple months. I guess I just don’t see why someone would open themselves up to that hurt.

And also, what couldn’t we do with a friend, that we can do with a boyfriend/girlfriend? Technically as Christians we should be thinking of our bf/gf as a brother or sister in Christ, right? So, does that make it good, to be “imtimate” (not including sex; we all know thats not right)with them? Also, I know that when you’re in a relationship the temptation is so much stronger to go little farther, and a little farther each time.

Now, I’m not saying that all dating is wrong but my opinion is that because I am a child of God, and he loves me, he’s cared enough to choose one man for me who he’s designed to be with me, so instead of jumping around from guy to guy and mistake to mistake, I’d rather just pray and let God tell me who’s the one rather than “finding him myself” and then go into a courting kind of deal, like someone said.

Any thoughts?
