Everything your sister said is right… I don’t know her or you, but all she said is true. After reading the bible carefully, I personally believe it’s fine for you to be baptised again. When I was baptised, I felt so clean and new, for the first time in my life. All the wrong I had ever thought, said, or done, was washed away. My old self died that day, and I was a new creation.

I’ve had a really rough life. I haven’t been in jail, but only because I didn’t get caught. And not because I was smart; I wasn’t. After I asked Jesus to be my Saviour, I still did things I knew were wrong. I didn’t immediately live right. But like you, Jesus loved me anyway. He loves us right where we are in the road, no matter what we look like, no matter what we’re doing, He loves us, and He takes us the way we are. For me, that had to be a lot of love! But the beautiful thing that you’re starting to realize is that He loves us enough to not leave us where He finds us. His whisper in your ear to follow him is His great love for you… He will not leave you there in the road the way He found you. He loves you too much for that. None of us can stop all the wrong in our lives on our own. That’s why no matter how hard we try on our own, we always fall right back into whatever it is. When you turn to Him, trust Him enough to believe what He says, and obey, and then your whole life begins to transform right before your eyes, then you can see how you need the Lord, and your faith and love for Him will grow. Jesus took the first step toward you, so it takes that next step of faith from you. The Lord is whispering to you, “My son, whom I love. I loved you enough to give my very life, to provide you a way to fellowship with me. When you turn to me and ask me for forgiveness, I will forgive you. I forgive you my son. Take my hand now, Son, and follow me. Will you follow me?”

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just, and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

1 Corinthians 10:13 we are told, “No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.”

Our job is to continually tell ourselves the truth. We must confront the lies that say, “It’s just the way I am” or “this is the way I was raised.” We must stop hiding behind the idea that we are helpless to the whims of our appetites and the influence of society. We have died to the power of sin! It has no control over us unless we give it that control. We must remind ourselves of this truth at every opportunity. We must ask God to help us, we can never do it on our own.
