AnonymousListener, if you feel the need for another human to guide, nurture or mentor you, give this need to the Lord and he will lay it upon someone’s heart to be there for you. Simply urning to someone becasue of their “position” is not always the best way to go. The Pope was called to provide spiritual leadership to Catholics and if your not Catholic, then the Lord probably has someone else in mind for you (although this doesn’t mean the Pope doesn’t have something to offer non-Catholics).
The one thing the others have hinted about, and probably mean, is that the core of “individuality” in Christianity is the “personal” relationship you have with Christ. I’m sure there are others who have felt as I have that there are times I just really sense that Jesus is right here with me. That’s the kind of individualism we should have.
