Christian Living Tips - Christian Tips
1. Goals Better than Resolutions
Consider setting goals instead of making New Yearīs resolutions. Unlike resolutions, goals are an ongoing thing, so if you fail January 1 or 2 to reach your goal, you still have 363 days to keep working toward -- and to reach -- your objective.

"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.." Philip. 3:13 Look up Bible verse

2. Points to Remember
When planning goals, remember these guidelines:

1.Know what you want to accomplish;

2. Decide on a plan;

3. Write it Down;

4. Break it into smaller steps;

5. Focus toward the outcome, and remind yourself often why you need to accomplish this;

6. Write down your progress periodically so you can visually see your accomplishments.

"So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." Psalm 90:12 Look up Bible verse

3. Failures -- or Only Setbacks?
"According to Tulane University business professor Lisa Amos, entrepreneurs fail in an average of 3.8 business ventures before they finally make it. The successful ones arenīt deterred by mistakes or adversity because they donīt see setbacks as failures. They recognize that three steps forward and two steps back still equals one step forward…." (John Maxwell, 1Leadership Wired, January 2000.) The same is true in the spiritual realm: "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9 Look up Bible verse

4. Setting Goals
When setting goals for your life, pick at least one in each of these areas: Physical, Spiritual, Emotional, Social, Financial, Mental, and Personal. Need wisdom? Just ask your Heavenly Father! "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." James 1:5 Look up Bible verse

5. Love the Sinner?
The traditional definition of tolerance means to "endure" or put up with something, such as a personīs behavior, attitudes or beliefs, without necessarily agreeing with them. The "new tolerance," however, asks us to accept the behavior, too! Though Christians canīt compromise with sin, we can love the sinner through Christ. This can make the difference in whether or not he later accepts Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. Remember, you are the only Bible some people will ever read!

"And of some have compassion, making a difference:" Jude 1:22 Look up Bible verse

6. Poem: "Revelation"
"REVELATION"
by Louise Norman

I complained of a crowded house;
He showed me slums.
I complained of mud-streaked carpet;
He showed me floors of dirt.
I complained of noisy neighbors;
He showed me prisoned silence.
I complained of bitter cold;
He showed me the faint.
I complained of aching joints;
He showed me the blind, the lame.
I complained of many things;
He showed me -- Himself.

"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." Hebrews 13:5 Now THATīs a promise to live by -- and to die by! Look up Bible verse

7. Iīm In the Mood For ...
How do you get over a bad mood? Take action, maybe clean a closet? Yell at your kids? Call a friend? Confess it and ask God to change your thinking? Or do you cling to your mood so you can enjoy your misery?

You can "think" yourself out of a bad mood and into a good one! The Bible says, "As he thinketh in his heart, so is he." Proverbs 23:7 The next time you get down in the dumps, ask yourself, "What have I been thinking on today?" More importantly, "What do I choose to think on now?"

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Phil. 4:8 Look up Bible verse

8. Poem: Forgive Me When I Whine
Forgive Me When I Whine

Today, upon a bus,
I saw a girl with golden hair.
and wished I was as fair.

When suddenly she rose to leave,
I saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had one leg and wore a crutch.
But as she passed, she passed a smile.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 legs, the world is mine.

I stopped to buy some candy.
The lad who sold it had such charm.
I talked with him, he seemed so glad.
If I were late, itīd do no harm.

And as I left, he said to me,
"I thank you, youīve been so kind.
Itīs nice to talk with folks like you.
You see," he said, "Iīm blind."

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 eyes, the world is mine.

Later while walking down the street,
I saw a child with eyes of blue.
He stood and watched the others play.
He did not know what to do.

I stopped a moment and then I said,
" Why donīt you join the others, dear?"
He looked ahead without a word.
And then I knew, he couldnīt hear.

Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
I have 2 ears, the world is mine.

With feet to take me where Iīd go.
With eyes to see the sunsetīs glow.
With ears to hear what Iīd know.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.
Iīve been blessed indeed, the world is mine.

9. Three Big "Mīs"
There are three big M`s in life: Our MASTER, our MISSION, and our MATE.

* MATE: "Who will my mate be?" We all ask that when we are young. Yet who our mate will be is determined by who our MASTER is.

* MISSION: "What is my mission in life?" That, too, depends on who your MASTER is.

* MASTER: "Who is my master?" That is up to you! "Choose you this day whom ye will serve..." Joshua 24:25

"Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?" Rom. 6:16. Look up Bible verse
