practical end times considerations

practical end times considerations
Few indeed I have met in these days that do not think that the next few years are going to be anything but tumultuous.

The forecast looks like a constant scenario of war after war, over oil water and food. The world is a very uanstable and treacherous place for nations as well as the people who make them up.

The time has indeed come when nation rises against nation it seems. The reasons for fighting are ever more clear cut each passing day.The reasons for peaceful co existance blurring and disappearing in the thirst for energy, water and food for starving masses. In Africa,Bosnia, and places like Indonesia and South America brother against brother in the battle of ideologies and religions.

The future of international relations looks more to me one of increasing conflicts and less one of trade and commerce treaty.

The revelation of John and the book of Daniel with a few other specific prophecy are the only handle we have on this future of uncertainty that looms ahead.

It is with some trepidation we can well look to what is next on the horizon, and it is only our faith that is going to see us through......

If as they say, our peak oil production is already past then the next 20-30 years will pretty much wind down our remaining supply,as the demand for oil is and will continue to grow none the less.

Without adaquate energy to continue in the extravagant way which the 20th century afforded us,we will be facing an eventual collapse of the system as we know it.or knew it to be exact.

I am thinking now of how bible prophecy compares to this scenario in terms of a constant hunger for energy supplies and a drastic shortage of it.

Food stuffs which sustain us today were produced with considerable expenditure of energy in the form of diesel fuel as well as hydroelectric power to process it. and still more diesel to deliver it to our locations.

As the cost of the energy increases the less we will be able to sustain our energy expensive methods of mass prodiucing and growing food stuffs.

It is the same for services of many kinds as well as petroleum products that we dont really know are from petroleum yet becuse they are still in good supply.

We face a totally altered world structure within three to four decades of time. this is comparable to the change in the world that the last fifty years of technological change has made.

With the very foundation of our economy and life style now in short supply,we will face many new situations where the old answers just will not do and are far too energy expensive to be of value in the new oil poor economy.Old methods and old answers will bejust too expensive to solve the needs and wants of our people.

If we are going to think of the end times prophecy comming to pass in the same aproximate world power structure with no rdical shift in the way the future is playing out.we are going to be woefully out of whack in preparedness for what is about to happen to the world in reality.

I think most of us see a modicum of discomfort in our future but the scope and the depth of the possibilities are very far reaching and far more radical than what most expect .

Many count specifically on being raptured out of this plane of existance before the wrath of Jehovah is felt upon the earth.

And this may be so as well, but in lieu of a rapture in the near future,i think it is wise to at least try to contemplate what the next thirty years can bring to us in the way of stormy weather.

I have always tried to understand how we are drifting into the world situation described in the revelation. what was causing us to become more ad more like the people described therein.

How the one world could be comming about and the things that were working to emphasize that end.

With an energy hungry world,i am sure that anyone comming who could show us how to produce energy in large quantities cheaply(not even safely)could become super influencial.almost a savior to us if the situation were extreme, and the shortage critical to our survival.

The world doesnt have to go through a great upheaval to loose third of its people, one great shortage of farm fuel could kill off a billion or two in a couple of seasons.

The seriousness of the oil situation should not be lost on us at this time.Nations will do whatever their leaders tell them it is nessessary to do in order to procure a supply of this vital stuff. An army of 200,000,000 is not out of the question when they are starving at home.

Just how prophecy will actually come to pass is still a matter of conjecture and nothing is hard and fast save that the prophecy will most certainly come to pass.the question is just how it all will come out against the world situation.

What i am suggesting is the situation will not be going to happen with all things being equal to today.

Perhaps it is time to rethink the ways in which the Lord will move us in order that his word be fullfilled.

I dont think we are wholly ready for the reality of a world without cheap abundant energy.and how much different it will be. Perhaps when we are reading the rev, and other stcripture we should try to picture what is being described against this backdrop of the new energy hungry world that will emerge for the oil crisis that is developing even now.If you beliecve that the price of gas will go down again,to previous levels, then you are way off.The world energy price increases are permanent as the demand grows for an ever shrinking supply. The price will only rise from here on out.Perhaps this is what is going to make the merchants weep.We will only be able to afford energy and not the extras.hurt not the oil and the wine.......

hi guys here it is two days an not a peep......

Well my contention still stands.I think we are being remiss in envisionong the scene of the end times prophecies as playing out in a climate much the same economically and industrially as today.

It will have to be a poorer earth that emerges in the comming decades than the one we live in if the fuel oil supply diminishes any further than todays levels which are already short of the demand by 20%

Further changes in the social structure are also going to make tomorrows world a different place. We can anticipate way less freedom of speach and movement as well as diminished capacity to deal with the legal system which is already gaining many footholds against personal freedom that were thought impossible for legislators to contemplate even ten years ago.

When we are required to carry some form of ID 24/7 whnever we go outdoors anywhere in the country,it could almost be said that the whole country was under the mark of the beast. When we are required to produce that card or form of ID to purchase anything then we will indeed know what the mark is!

The many anti terror laws are going to culminate at that point eventually if the goverment has its way.

How easy it will be for the anti christ to slip in to power when we have set the controls system up before hand to facilitate it.

What is going to bring about the depression that allows the goverment to impoverish the bulk of the pop of the free world without a violent revolution being fought is not clear to me yet,but the foretold famines may have a role to play in this scenario.as well as the abundant natural disasters that are prphecied to occurr in those days.....

Will they be soon?I rather think so....the world politaical situation is loaded with snapping points that could alter the situation over a short time span, and there are many of them.Things like the Isreali determination to remain the only nuke power in the middle east.Juxtaposed with the determination of Iran to become the first arab country to join the nuclear arms club.

These opposing situations exist in number throughout the world and will be instrumental in touching off the landslide to oblivion that the world is about to embark on in serious order.

I think it wise to review what our role may be in the context of end times behavior and be prepared to perform those duties when we are called upon to do so.....any comments?

Does anybody read the newspaper anymore? The suburbanites just subscribe for fireplace paper and so that the nieghbours can see it every morning out there on the lawn signalling the fact that the family has not gone insolvent over night and can still afford to decorate thier lawn with a trmendous waste of trees over the course of a lifetome of lighting the firplace. It would be well if somebody would read it while they crumple the pages for easy ignition.

Dont you think it shocking that when asked where the country of Iran is located on a map most westerners cant imagine exactly where it is....

Somewhere over there by turkey ....yet this tiny country is attempting to hijack the United States policy in the middle east all by itself.Yes it expects support from Hamas and every crackpot jihadista between new york and Tajekistan, but that still doesnt amount to much in terms of something solid that troops and ships can target and anihalate. The unleashing of the totall of these unconventional forces is poised on the turn of a

dime as the Iranians get ever closer to producing their own version of Hiroshima.

The next 2-3 months are the critical months for military strikes to be effective. After the russian air defense missles that Tehran has ordered are up and running.it may be too costly for manned air operations against the natanz and other related sites.

The fever pitch of calls for action from the west has ratcheted up considerably over the last 6 months.

The pres of Iran is now about even with Adolf Hitler on the likeability scale of the US news services and other free world press. This man has rocketed from relative obscurity as the pres of a relatively innocuous country somewhere in the middleeast,to the raving armageddon slinging maniac who will stop at nothing but nothing in his quest to bring on the apocalypse which will result in the return of the 12 th Imaam of Shiitisms prophecy.

The planes will soon be in the air right behind the cruise missles that will be aimed at the air defense capability of the whole country unless i miss my guess........no turning back now......

I have to admit a certain proclivity for windbagging it......

But i see a storm arising out of the east that has the potential for becomming the final act of a long and torurous journey.

I can see heartache and misery that could be avoided if we were to rise up in one voice to put the real name on what is going on.

Instead we are marking time while we wait on God to do what His mighty plan calls for next....

We could do worse than study what is going on around us and comparing that to prophecy......

It seems the consequnces of brinkmanship have had their ante upped over the last year......

massacre at the little big horns....

The anti christ is the little horn, that defeats two or three big horns to dominate a conglamorate country.

Why not aminijahad? The iranian pres could concievably be in charge of the palestinians cmpletely soon, also Syria, and iraq would make neat additions//.

This puts the natural allies together under one flag and also gives them a totally dedicated apocalypist for a leader................NO?

How about this war hey?Really something isnt it?

How about that hezbollah hey?Holding the town of bint jabail despite what ever the IDF could throw at it....or did they cut and run?39 Idf KIAs dont think so......Its getting seriously a grudge match with every casualty on either side doing nothing but stiffeneing the resolve on somebodys part to meake their death mean something.....Mean something? in a centuries old, aeons actually of warfare, how could one more or a thousand more mean anything at all?

The killing keeps on going day and night ata steady pace with occaisionall spikes and lulls, the dpikes get ting more common than the lulls as time passes.

Khaim is next on the agenda of the IDF as they make a separate incursion into lebanon cser to the syrian border.

But how close is close when they blew up the lebanese side of the border crossing with Syria on saterday?

Thats cutting the provocation cake a little bit fine with Syria, who is after all somewhat liable to declare war with isreal by proxy in lebanon by sending combat troops to suppeort thr Hezbollah fighters in the border area.

The syrians have a decent military capability as do the Iranis if they were to wiegh in with hezbollah, and start to help take on the IDF in lebanon only, can isreal actually strike at them if its under the table?yes /no?it could be effective, for a signifigant time if the proof was hard for isreal to come up with, i doubt that the world would watch unprovoked strikes .

without some punitive action against her.Economic etc.

Here, quite unexpectedly, is the perfect chance to go up against the isrealis with hardened combet troops and make some damage if the opposition is crefty and daring enough to carry it off.

Let us hope that the IDf has contingency plans for just such doriegn support from all kinds of other volunteers too.The civilian Men of Jihad from all over islam will be soon arriving in beirute as well..................

Is it possible that Armanijihad can begin the takeover of iran and syria and iraq uniting them to become the antichrist birth nation>It would be a perfectly strong conglomeration.Certainly strong ehough to bully the other nations into line with it?Or could it be his successor? It apears to me that an important sign post was passed by in the night and we are somewhere into the tribulation..........Figuring out just roughly where that may be is a neat trick if you can duplicate it.What say you all?(thats a joke cause i am the only one interested in this drivel......................tata for now B

Dear Acts103435: Did not Jesus say: "I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it" (Matt. 16:18)? Why do you fear things that have already happened? You are doing what too many today are doing--newspaper exegesis. And all because you and they have your timing off. These things you worry about or expect to happened happened in the first century. We are on the winning team. The victory has been won! God's comfort and blessings to you! FullPreterist

Dear Acts 103435: I believe the end spoken of in Matthew 24 and elsewhere is the end of the OT Jewish economy and not the end of the world. Jeremiah 31:31 speaks of a time when God would write His laws in our hearts. The "end of the age" came when Jesus, through the Roman armies, destroyed the old system with its types and shadows (temple, priests, sacrifices, etc). The woes pronounced on the "scribes, Pharisees, hypocrites" were fulfilled in ca AD 63-70 (the Great Tribulation). They were guilty of "all the righteous blood shed upon the earth" (Matthew 23). Since that time, Jesus has been building His Church (God's people now made up of the spiritual seed of Abraham with the Law written in their hearts). We have the great privilege of helping to spread His Kingdom through the preaching of the Word and sharing of the Gospel. The Israel of today needs to do what all nations need to do--repent and believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessings to you, Judy

So whats changed? That is the crux of the matter since Christs ministry, will always be the crux of the matter.

If God has been building his church where is it?I dont see anything of what the bible describes as by their fruit ye shall know them in this world.

If you have thoughts its you, and have not the qualities that were described then you too are merely stuck in the great delusion.Give yer haed a shake.Because you nor I can have it both ways.......................b

Dear Acts & fullpreterist,

I find it interesting (and we have all had this conversation before on other threads) that a review of early Church history up until the 3rd century (timeframe of Origen, early Greek Church Father, who put forth and popularized the allegorical method of Biblical interpretation) the Church as a whole followed a literal method of interpretation and also held to a premillennial, pretribulational view of the endtime events.

It is our modern views and methods of interpretation which lends itself to support an alternate view of the endtimes. Examine the early Church fathers writings for your self, not somebody's interpretation and conjecture of what they meant and you will not find a single one who wrote in support of a view that is now put forth by preterists, amillennialists, post millennialists and the like.

Take for example the writings of Polycarp and Papias, who were disciples of the Apostle John himself, their writings/teachings support a pre-tribulational, premillennial view. If the other viewpoints were actually what John in his writings was teaching, doesn't it stand to reason that this would have come across in their writings as well?

Peace & Grace,

I hve been absent from this converstion for while but in passing, the question still begs an answer,nd the world is seemingly approaching a WW3scenario even by more moderate standards..........

We have the ingredients for the appearance of the anti christ forming right now.Though the seven yr treaty is not come up yet,it could be the peace treaty of the predicted show down with Iran and the rest of Islam.Hezbollah was a preview of the opening act.......

We have Islam set up to be the other team, and the rest of the world eeither lined up or suffering so badly they dont even care about much but their next meal.A large percentag of the world living on 2$ a day or less............The World seems to be reaching the political and economic precursors to armageddon in short order.

acts103435: Where do you get your understanding of "antichrist?" Many people wrongly believe that such a personage is mentioned in the Book of Revelation when, as you probably know, John mentions it only in his epistles. And even then, he is not portrayed necessarily as a person but as anything that opposes Christ. The beast of the Revelation is a good candidate for any embodiment of that spirit of "antichrist." Nero fits it perfectly.

Notice also that John speaks of antichrist in his own day.
