No Earthly Millennium...Scripture makes clear
What is the truth about the 1000 years Millennium? Some teach this period is on earth, but scripture is clear it is not. Others say we are in it now or it comes when a powerful religious leader appears in Isreal saying he is the Christ.

The truth is it follows the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, after he takes the saints back with him to heaven. But some misguided ministers and pastors preach that the people will stay here on earth and will be a time of peace on earth with the religious leader calling himself the Christ controling events over the nations from the present city of Jerusalem during the future millennium.

The truth is the Bible doesn't exactly say any of these things. The only chapter in God's Word that specifically mentions this 1000-year period is Revelation 20. Lets see what it says and what it does not say.

Revelation 20 (King James Version)

Revelation 20

1And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

2And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

3And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

4And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

7And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

8And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

9And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

There is no Earthly Millennium...Scripture makes it clear, here is what it says about the 1000 years Millennium:

1.The righteous are raised at the beginning of the 1000 years (vs. 4-6)

2.The "rest of the dead" are raised at the end of the 1000 years (vs. 5a)

3.Satan is bound during the 1000 years (vs. 3)

4.Satan is loosed when the "rest of the dead" are raised (compare verses 5 and 7)

5.Satan gathers the lost for a battle against God's city (vs. 8)

6.A judgment occurs, then the lost go into the lake of fire (verses 9, 14, 15)

7.Then the old earth passes, and the new earth comes (21:1)

It should be noticed that Revelation 20 does not specifically say that Jesus Christ will rule

on earth during the 1000 years from the present city of Jerusalem.

So where does this false belief come from, well if its not from the Bible and God, then it must come from another source which wants to misdirect and confuse man in the end times.

So lets take a look at when the 1000 years Millennium takes place. The 1000 years Millennium start at the "first resurrection" which is a resurrection of the saints, those who have previously died in Christ. The next question is, what event brings it about? The Bible is equally clear about this, revealing that it is the return of Jesus Christ which leads to the resurrection of the saints.

In 1 Corinthians 15:23, 51-55, Paul tells us plainly that it is at "His coming," when "the trumpet sounds," that "the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."

1 Thessalonians 4:16,17 is the clearest of all. Paul wrote, "The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort with another with these words." When "the dead in Christ rise first," this is the same as "the first resurrection" (Revelation 20:6).

In summary, Revelation 20:4-6 definitely begins the 1000 years with the resurrection of the saints. 1 Corinthians 15:51-55, and 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17, also tell us plainly that the resurrection of the saints, who are called "the dead in Christ," occurs at the coming of Jesus Christ. Thus the return of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of the saints and taking them to heaven marks the beginning of the 1000 years Millennium. So the 1000 years Millennium is with the saints in heaven not on earth, after the Second Coming, scripture clearly shows this.
