Hit by car...or by God?

Hit by car...or by God?
Four years ago if you had asked me if I believed in God, I would have laughed in your face. "God, there is no God! It's just a figment of your imagination an idol you pray to." Later that same year I was riding my bike down the bike lane when a 16 year old, who had just gotten his license, driving with underage kids in the car, and going twice the speed limit came up behind me. He was drinking out of a water bottle when he dropped it in the passenger side floorboard. He reached down to get it and when he did his body moved, with the body moved the hand, with the hand moved the wheel, and with the wheel moved the car. When he looked up..BAM! I was struck. My body flew into the front of the car with my head breaking the windshield. My body stayed on the car hood as he sped up and turned to the left. When he turned the car my momentum kept going forward and I did a flip and landed on my face at 70 mph. He hit me so hard and so fast it literally knocked my socks off my feet. I had to have been the luckiest kid hit by a car ever because it just so happens that police was going into my neighborhood when the robotic arm came down and broke their back windshield. They were about to argue with the guard thinking it was his fault when they saw me fly through the air and land on the concrete. One of the police men came and pulled my head out of blood, which I was choking on, while the other hopped in the car and chased after the driver. The next four weeks went by in a blur because what can I say, I was induced in a coma. The first day I lost 8 gallons of blood. That's like me having all of my blood, losing all that; getting all of Fred's blood, losing all that; and getting Jill's blood. I only had 10% chance of living. Somehow I was spared the first day. My parents were relieved for about an hour. The doctor came in and said, "He is going to live, but he will be blind." The next day, "He won't be blind but he will be deaf." "He won't be deaf but he won't be able to walk." On and on the precautions kept coming. What my parents did was get the precaution pray about it, send it on a prayer line with about a few thousand people's prayers and put it in God's hands. Somehow each precaution went away and I came out of the coma virtually undamaged. The first thing I remember after the coma was thinking, "What in the world had made that heart monitor beep once again. Two months later when I was released from the hospital I hit the books studying about life, what it is, how did it start, what the meaning of life was. With every conclusion I hit I came out with the same answer... a supernatural being. I then figured, "Well if there is a God, maybe I owe it to Him to go to church at least once." So I did, and when I did I saw something I had never seen before. These "church people" for some reason were so filled with joy and happiness which I thought was empty joy and happiness. Even though I did not believe in this God yet, I still wanted that joy in my life. So I went back next week and the week after that, and the week after that. The more I went the more I wanted to go. The more I learned the more I wanted to learn. Four months later I fell to my knees and cried out to God. You know it was one of those typical Hallelujah, I found Jesus moments. But it wasn't that way for me. It was one of the most highlighted moments of my life. It is the only time I will ever admitt crying. A month later I was baptized and became a Christian and started to do Christian stuff. When ever I tell people this they always think, "Wow, that must have been the worst day in your life when that car hit you." Ah, but their wrong, the day the car hit me was the best day of my life because without that I would have never found hope, never found meaning, never found a reason to live. God is hope, God is meaning, God is a reason to live. That is how God knocked some sense into me.

Wow Trevor that is an awesome story, thank you so much for sharing it. I didn't have an accident like that, but I had something similar in terms of realizing there has to be a God and just learning a little bit about him, and then wanting more and more and more and seeing those people who have God in their lives and seeing the joy and this love they seemed to be filled with.

Once again thanks a lot for sharing your experience,

May God Bless you,

PRAISE GOD!!!! HALLELUJAH JESUS!!!

Thanks so much for sharing Trevor. My kids grown and around 40 (Jon, Bonnie and Paul and their spouses) need a BIG reawakening too. They believe in God but got into the wrong things---drinking and bad friends, etc.

Bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me

Bless His holy name.

He will do it again!
