All my life I have suffered from low self esteem because I don't think I am very pretty at all or very smart. I have been at the same job for over 10 years, but have no close friends there, just acquiantances. At times, I hate myself because of my plain appearance, yet I am a Christian. There are other women who don't let it bother them, but I never felt accepted by my mother because I was not pretty like some of her friends kids were, and got compared to them. Now, 53 years later, I still don't feel like she really acepts me. I really need prayer and a friend who accepts me as I am, not as they think I should be.

I used to have low self esteem, but by God's grace i have overcome it with this scriptures; Genesis 1:26-27.
Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Gen 1:27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
This tells me that I AM JUST LIKE GOD; among the things that God created there is nowhere in the bible that it's stated that God created those things in his own image expect human being(me and you).
Pat, look at all the things created by God (nature); the trees, birds of the air,plants, flowers, birds of the sea, rivers mountains, i can give you endless list are'nt they beautiful? how much we human beings created in the image of God. by faith can see your beautiful face. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL JUST LIKE GOD;

Better a woman that loves God and follows Him, then a woman who follows the world and satan.
Better a woman of average looks with a good work record, then a pretty women who is lazy.
Better a woman of average smarts, then a smart woman who always plots evil.
LORD please help this woman in the ways she needs most. Teach her that You love her no matter where she works, how she looks, and the number of light friends she has. Jesus teach her that you look on the inside not on the outside. God please help her, in Jesus Holy Name I pray. Amen
When God began to speak to me about me, He gave me the scripture Psalms 139. It is a powerful Psalm, and its one that I read out loud to myself.
"I will praise YOU, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Begin speaking positive things about yourself. You will see a change in how you think about yourself.
Blessings, Mary

Psalm 149:13- I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
God does not make anything that is not beatiful. Every person on Earth is equally beautiful to God. It doesn't matter what people think of how you look. If a person does not love you for you, then they are not worth your time, and it does not matter what they think. That's my opinion, anyway. I've been insulted who knows how many times, but I didn't care. If a person is so shallow that they only care what you look like, who needs them?

Dear Sister in Christ:
I am a sufferer of Body Dysmorphic Disorder, an obsession of a certain body parts usually above the neck. I used to see a monster when I looked in the mirror, but by the grace of God and His word, I have overcome most of the obsessing. In my recovery, I focused on the verses that we are made in the image of God and that we are wonderfully made and knit together by Him. We are His creation and His masterpiece, uniquely made the way he wanted us. We are a masterpiece in His eyes and anyone who is spirit-filled can see that God-beauty. "Be thou my vision, Lord." Those words I have prayed and meditated on for years. In my relationship with the Lord, He told me that I needed to look through His eyes. So when I go to that mirror I pray "be thou my vision Lord. Let me see through your eyes. Let me hear through your ears, let me feel what you feel, and let me think what you think. Let me be one with you and let me see myself the way You see me." I meditate day and night on that concept and I take it with me during the day.
You are God's masterpiece. This is truth. You are uniquely and wonderfully made by the Master. You were designed for His purpose. Throw away the chains of this superficial world and keep your sight on the kingdom of heaven. Get rid of those old societal tapes we women have been brain-washed with; they are Satan's chains. Cast them away and stay in Christ. Breathe Him, listen for Him, look for Him, and feel Him in all that you do.
One bread and one body in Christ,
Kim

Hey WalmartAngel:
I just read your story and thought how it paralleled mine in many ways. My mom and dad were like your mom. Dad used to call us stupid as children, though we knew he loved us because he spent much time with us in recreational actdivities. We learned that his irritability was not about us but, rather, some mind battle within him. My sister, as an adult, asked Mom, "Is there anything I do right?' I think that was an eye opener for Mom because she has changed drasticly since then.
I invite you to read my blog since you and I have similar issues regarding job and self image. I suffer from Body Dysmorphic Disorder; however, I have allowed this "thorn in my side" to make me stronger in Christ. I have addressed job difficulties and self image in my blog. They are miniauture testimonies and I think you might draw some of the Lord's encouragement and healing from them. All my issues I keep centered around the Lord, my true strength. I have learned that the stronger I am in Him, the stronger I am in the wake of adversity.
We need to keep our eyes on the Lord and not on ourselves. You've heard the cry, "It's all about You, Lord. Not me but Thee. Be Thou my vision."
I trust that God is faithful and I know that He will shine the light in your most darkest of hours if you let Him.
Much love and understanding my sister,
Kim

Thank you Kim for such a possitive feed back. I like the song Be though my vision.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
Text: Ancient Irish; trans. by Mary E. Byrne, 1880-1931; versed by Eleanor H. Hull, 1860-1865
Through This song we survive yet struggle
Hugs and God Bless

Pat,
After reading your post and the responses; me thinks it's evident that God is working this out in your life.
To be aware of an uncomfortable situation in ones life, is always three fold.
1) God IS in control, no matter what the situation looks like.
2) Satan uses the things that he knows affects us most, to discourage us.
3) Whenever you find satan doing this, see rule #1.
Remember...
NOWHERE in the bible can one find the following statement:
"... and God said "OOPS!"
(Although me thinks He might have come a little close when He made me.

Patricia,
In my ripe old age of 50, I have spent the last 5 years or so realizing that for the longest time I have found few woman unattractive. There are characteristics and ways about all of you women that only a self confident man not looking for the wrong thing could admire.
I have looked at all of you and noticed so much of your outer characteristics and inner beauty that I realize you are all God's divine work of art, and much appreciated here.
Take care,
Steve
