Just what took them so long?On Feb.18, 34 denominations in the United States met in the largest joint conference in over seven years and issued a statement showing the Christian position on the war in Iraq.Their joint statement contains extremely explicit language that describes Gerorge Bush's attempt at world peace as actually "raining down terror" by creating a foreign policy that has brought "violence, degradation and poverty". (in Baghdad the electricity operates only 4 hours a day) The joint statement goes on to state,"We (34 denominations) lament with special anguish the war in Iraq launched in deception and violating global norms of justice and human rights. We acknowledge with shame abuses carried out in our name.God has been enlisted in national agendas that are nothing short of idolatrous." WOW!! Talk about telling it like it is!They even hit the worship of state that for many "Christians" has become more important than the worship of Jesus who has commanded us to love and forgive our enemies, not murder and maim them as our morally perverted leaders demand of us.We should thank God that at long last many ministers are taking a stand for Christ's teachings and not the hate- filled government propaganda that they spewed out at the beginning of the war.
