Motives Matter

Motives Matter
The motives behind someone's actions matter. Before I became a Christian I performed some good deeds, but the motives behind those deeds were not based on God's goodness. All of us are sinners whether we appear so to the outside world or not. God knows our hearts, and as his word declares, "all of our righteousness is as filthy rags." It is God who makes us righteous based on our faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord not on exterior appearances nor on good deeds. One sin separates us from God, and the Bible makes clear that "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God". It is only God who can "create in us a clean heart" through faith in Jesus' sacrifice on the cross for our sins.

Hi, Craig,
Are you sure you wanted this under "Hinduism Debate"? I don't see you mentioning anything about Hinduism.
I can change it for you if you like.

I think it is a great discussion topic.

Yes, this is where I wanted it. After reading the posting about a Hindu saint I felt this needed to be here. Also, I didn't want to directly attack that posting. However, I probably should have said something to link this to Hinduism.
