The OT Law, Today!

The OT Law, Today!

The OT Law, today

Gal3:23-25 But before faith came, we were under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefor the law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
Mt5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

The law of the Old Covenant is in effect on everyone that has died with Jesus and has been born of the Spirit. For those who turn to the Lord in repentance and faith, the law is superseeded by the New Covenant. So that, (Rom8:2) the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

May I make a correction?

The law of the Old Covenant is NOT in effect on everyone that has died with Jesus and has been born of the Spirit.

The law is not dead, not in any way changed, it is true. It has been annulled, put away concerning Christians.

Blessings,
Jim

Read Galations 3:14-16
Paul said the Law was a teacher to bring us to Christ But in these verses we receive the provisions of the Law that has been incorporated into it through birth in Jesus. We now are made to call the father --- Father because of Christ and are made to able to cry ABBA father the cry of the helpless Adopted child. Because of the adoption in heaven through Jesus we have the rights of the first born and are made able to also know Jesus as brother.
The law of the Abrahamic covenant is made so much stronger now because through faith in Jesus it now becomes fleshly tables in the heart ;Don't you see we still serve the law through the indwelling Spirit that makes Jesus alive in us.

King James Version (KJV)
14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
15Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
16Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
17And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

Glad to see ya today! Ah, yes, we enjoy the Abrahamic Covenant. However, it came 430 years before the Law of Moses, and ran parallel to the Mosaic Covenant. The Mosaic Covenant is more of a side street now concerning the connection between the Abrahamic and New Covenant. I don't serve the old law. It served us until Jesus. Galatians 2:19
Quote:
For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
What I am dead to I cannot serve, nor can it help me.

In that last Galatians 3:17 verse the law of Moses can't go back to abolish the covenant of faith promised to Abraham. It went opposite. Faith trumped law.

Laugh I laugh at myself daily, forever having to go edit most posts to add or delete sometimes just one word I certainly didn't intend to abuse, such tiny mishaps that can spoil a chapter of words Unimpressed
