Mike, over 1000 people have read this forum. Do you realize that many, if not most, are praying for you? This is the Lord at work!

Bless all those who read this forum, Lord. Encourage them through this one man of how important your Word is. Let them know that if they are without a Bible that they can go to www.biblegateway.com and read it there. I am excited about how Your Word is going out today. Bless Mike abundantly as he is such a good example for all of us.
In Jesus' Name, amen.
Blessings ~ Sarah

Well done! It would help us a lot I think if you gave us a bit of a synopsis of what you have read each time. Not long but just a quick resume to give the folks who read your posts something to get their teeth into and perhaps encourage them to check it out for themselves. That way this thread could actually become quite interesting.

Best Regards Chris.

Read Num. 33 to Deut. 17 today.

I have trouble with retention (perhaps that's common at 80). How much of what you read do you retain?

Mike, thank you SOOOO much for taking the time to share your journey with all of us. I'm sure that everyone who is reading it and watching you is getting something from your notes. May God bless you abundantly, not only in your reading of the scriptures, but also in your life.

Keep going, the reports are good. At this rate you will go from newby to veteran poster by the time you reach Revelation. Well done!

Regarding recall, it does not matter so much if you cannot remember chapter and verse. You may be surprised to discover though that you will recall many words and phrases which will leap into your mind contextually. Often, in conversation or replying to others posts I know exactly what is written in scripture but can't say exactly where it is. Now, thanks to Bible scanning software we can 'search' for words / phrases that we read many years ago but have not actually forgotten are there. That is the greatest benefit of having an 'overview' of scripture. You get a more balanced appreciation of it.

Regards Chris.

Funny we should be talking about "recall" (thanks to Chaplainbob)!
I have absorbed LOADS of scripture (always King James - lol - I guess cuz that was what was in my "milk") and I have always had a learning disability about remembering what I have read, etc.

Like I cannot tell you the name of a movie I went to yesterday, or what book I just finished reading, or even what I just read... unless it is scripture.

But scripture comes right out of my brain... Like you, Chris, not Chapter and verse... but the words are always there. It is a miracle. Also, it has been discovered that the only thing that will heal the brain after drugs have destroyed it, is reading scripture.

I believe it is our job to read it and His job to make it stick! :)

What an awesome report! I am SO grateful to Abba for sending you to do this! It is absolutely wonderful!!!

Jim (PraizeOP) always claims the verse that described Moses when he was (I think) 120 years old... that his eyesight was not dimmed and his strength was not diminished.

Recently Jim was required to have an eye exam and they could not believe his wonderful eyesight! (Here's a secret... he will be 61 on Nov. 3.) I am so very proud of him for having the faith to believe that Word. Oh, and mine has always been Ps. 103:5 ;)

I like the way your reports make OT texts relevant to us today through reference always to the example and person of Jesus. All Old Testament scripture needs to be evaluated in that way because without knowing the one whom scripture is about we can't expect to properly understand scripture. On the other hand, because Jesus came in 'fulfillment' of the scriptures, we can't properly understand Jesus without knowing the scriptures.

Keep up the good work.

Regards Chris.

Okay, we haven't heard from you for a couple of days. That is understandable because you are terribly busy, and posting here simply adds to your responsiblilities. How about posting for us twice a week? That will open up a little more time for you. Have you seen how many people are reading your posts??? I am sure that they, like me, are praying for you and cheering you on. Whether we see you or not, we are praying for great success in this mighty endeavor. I am sure that reading the Bible like this brings it to you in a different light than, say, a chapter a day. Okay, I will stop now so that you can get back to work. Just know that you are being prayed for and blessing all those who are reading this thread and walking with you.
Blessings ~ Sarah
