WANT TO BE PRESIDENT?
Most people would think a lot of integrity would be a principle part of this but in all reality the ability to conceal your past is just as important.
Just as important though are the finances to do it.
You might hear a lot of talk about a PAC, that’s a political action committee that for the most part is a finance committee for the run for the office. There has to be a finance committee because of the accountability in relation to the more than 300 million it takes to run a campaign for the office. In the political speeches you will hear the candidate denounce misuse of money and bad finances but a candidate will spread money around like he is playing monopoly and winning. To reduce the criminal aspect of being a candidate the government past laws stating that after each candidate raised certain figures for the campaign then government finances are available.
I decided to do a little study about this part of the politics of our country and found out that essentially depending on the number of candidates running for the presidency the cost could easily be in excess of 1 billion dollars.
If we had the funds from the wars in the Middle East and money from the presidential elections there would be no financial problem in this country. The cost of these three events so far is running close if not in excess of 1trillion dollars. The wasted funds in Iraq alone would exceed fifty billion dollars. For example a room was found in the governmental palace of Iraq that was stacked with American money Floor to ceiling and wall to wall with the smallest denomination being twenties.
Now to get back to the candidates, in addition to the offices they open around the country, there are “spin doctors” to be hired, and campaign managers at least three levels. There are advertising people, phone banks and finance committees in each office to be set up. There are people that set up local appearances and finally speech writers.
The majority of this money comes from the taxes you and I pay. Compare this to the deficits in the government that we hear about.
Now to the language and statements made in this process, the candidate for the most part has everything he says prepared for him with the spin doctors and speech writers playing the greatest part. The spin doctors specialize in taking small bits from public statements and distorting them to make the opposition look as bad as possible. The most time worn way is to make another candidate look as if he were the only one who had certain unpopular legislation passed. Every one should know that our government runs on majorities. Only a majority agreeing on any legislation can pass it. The President never is the sole individual responsible for a law he only signs what a majority of congress agrees on to make it a law.
This is only a portion of what goes to begin the presidency and before I begin the next submission, remember the man that probably held the greatest respect as president was R.Reagan. He had the least skills as a politician but held the greatest level of integrity of any man that’s been in that office.
What was different about him?
