Re: [kennyj] Is purpose/meaning in your life necessary?
Kenny: Hi.

That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, Acts 10:37-41

Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. Eph.6:5-8.

If your life seems to have become purposeless, it is good for you to read these passages of scripture. Then devote your life to something or someone higher than the sum of your own personal interests.

To know God's will and to do it, is the path to happiness and a sense of purpose.

Joe's life, as boring and unproductive as you describe it nevertheless still as yet takes him into the sphere of human interaction. How he responds to the needs, physical and spiritual, of his fellows will determine the level of satisfaction and sense of purpose he experiences.

This truly applies whether or not he is a 'believer'. The difference for believers is that we believe this truth and experience available to us, to be eternal.
In Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. 2 Cor. 5:19. Love covers a multitude of sins. 1 Pet.4:8b.
