On Unspoken, Jaci Velasquez, the artist with three RIAA-certified platinum albums, six Dove Awards, a Latin Billboard Music Award, a Premio Le Nuestro Award, three Grammy nods, five Billboard Music Award nominations, 16 #1 radio hits and more than 50 magazine covers, examined her life and her faith and spoke honestly about both. Unspoken marks Velasquez's first effort as principal songwriter for an album.
Recipient of a Latin Billboard Music Award in the “Pop Album of the Year- Female” category, Word Records’ recording artist Jaci Velásquez co-wrote seven of the 12 songs included on her upcoming musical offering Unspoken.
“These songs reveal things I’ve always felt, but never have been able to come out and say,” reflects the 22-year-old Velásquez. “This album really is all about those emotions and ideas that have been left unspoken till now. Being able to record songs that I’ve actually written myself makes it all the more important to me.”
Dove-award winning songwriter and artist Cindy Morgan teamed up with her to create “I’m Alive.” Producer Matthew Gerrard also contributed on the songwriter front and co-wrote six cuts on the album. Others claiming songwriter credits include Bridget Benenate, Madeline Stone, Oran Hatch, Toby Gad, Tom McWilliams, Freddy Pinero Jr., Javier Solis, Abel Orta, Jamba, Chris Faulk, Hunter Davis, and Dillon O’Brian.
Jaci Velásquez is one of the most recognizable entertainers spanning two music genres, including Christian and the now-popular Latin genre.
The album hits shelves March 25/2003!
It's Jaci's first English language studio album in nearly two years.
Jaci co-wrote seven of the project's 12 songs ("The Real Me," "The Glass House," "Where I Belong," "You're My God," "Jesus Is," "I'm Alive" and "You're My Friend").
Jaci will be stepping out into a new role in her career with a major part in the upcoming Fox 2000 Pictures movie “Chasing Papi,” which comes to theaters in May 2003.
"With my music and now this movie, I feel like I've been given a platform," she says. "More than ever, I want to use that platform to be authentic about my faith to people who may not know God.
