Some Messages are Worth Repeating

Posted in Jobs & Career on Tue, Jul 31 2007 - 06:28 PM

As I awoke Monday morning, I groaned a little.  I had to go back to work after a week off and I wasn't especially looking forward to it.  Vacation spoiled me. While I was waiting for the iron to heat up, I hopped on the internet for a morning devotion on-line. The devotion was about trusting God--really trusting him.  The scripture for the day:2...

Peace Like A River

Posted in Jobs & Career on Fri, Jul 27 2007 - 07:09 AM

I just returned from Panama City Beach FL--one of my favorite places!  I spent the week staring at the ocean and skyline thinking about the special care God put into making it all so beautiful.  The different shades of green/blue in the water are amazing there.  I didn't want to come home! I am reading a new book-- Breaking Free by Beth Moore.  I...

I Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick

Posted in Jobs & Career on Sat, Jul 21 2007 - 04:25 AM

I saw a t-shirt in our local Christian book store that said.... I Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick. It had a picture of Jesus carrying the cross. That really says it all, doesn't it? I've been really trying to listen to Jesus lately. I mean really listen. I have had a lot going on, a lot of stress and concerns. I tend to play and re-play things...

Forget About It!

Posted in Jobs & Career on Fri, Jul 20 2007 - 06:14 PM

Don't you love it when you read a familiar scripture and it speaks to you in a new and different way? That happened to be last night during my quiet time. Isaiah 43:18-19 Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will make a road in the...

I Am Nothing, Yet He Chose Me

Posted in Jobs & Career on Thu, Jul 19 2007 - 04:53 PM

I am believe that most things in our life do not happen by accident.  God's hand is in it.  Last night, I was preparing for my evening devotional.  I was trying to decide what to read.  I started looking for a book I recently purchased, but couldn't find it anywhere!  I was perplexed and started looking in all the same places again.  I reached...

Whisper in the Storm

Posted in Jobs & Career on Wed, Jul 18 2007 - 10:30 AM

Wow!  I didn't realize how long it has been since I blogged here.  A lot has happened in the last few months--good and bad.    I am in the midst of a storm in my life.   A series of storms actually.  I'm in the stormy seas of spiritual warfare.  My worst enemy is me--mainly in the way of fear, worry, anxiety and stress.   Those emotions, although...

Wake Up, Get Up and Come see Me!

Posted in Jobs & Career on Tue, Apr 17 2007 - 03:31 AM

Has God ever given you a nudge in the morning and said, Get up! He did that to me this morning. My alarm clock went off about 5:55am as usual. The norm is for me to hit snooze approximately 6-8 times. I usually very reluctantly drag out of bed between 6:20 and 6:30. I am NOT a morning person. I have to be honest. He has been softly nudging ...

I Have A Few Questions

Posted in Jobs & Career on Sun, Apr 08 2007 - 11:34 AM

Our family watched the Passion of the Christ last night.  I don't even know the right words to describe the impact the movie had on me.  As I watched the way they tortured Jesus and the physical and emotional anguish he was going through, tears streamed down my face.  I prayed silently, Thank You, Jesus.  I had no idea what you really went through....

Daddy's Home!

Posted in Jobs & Career on Sat, Apr 07 2007 - 06:27 AM

I witnessed the cutest and most special event while out walking in my neighborhood....... A car pulled into a driveway.  Suddenly, the door to the home flew open.  Out popped 5 little children all screaming, "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!  Daddy's home!  They were all jumping and skipping making their way to the car, single file from oldest to...

A Visit to Noah's Ark

Posted in Jobs & Career on Sat, Mar 31 2007 - 05:36 PM

I got the rare opportunity to visit Noah's Ark today.  It was beautiful.  Noah's Ark is an animal park near Atlanta.  My niece and nephew had their birthday party there. It is a really neat place.  There are acres and acres of animals just roaming around--pigs, deer, peacocks, llamas and more.  There are other more dangerous animals in cages-...

Lost in the Woods

Posted in Jobs & Career on Tue, Mar 27 2007 - 07:20 PM

Why are you downcast, O my Soul?  Why so disturbed within me?  Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Saviour and my God.  Psalm 42: 11    I've been struggling a little lately--emotionally and spiritually.  I feel like I am in the middle of the woods with trees completely surrounding me.  There is no clear path in any direction, yet I ...

"He's Got My Back"

Posted in Jobs & Career on Fri, Mar 16 2007 - 04:04 PM

I passed by a church after dropping my daughter off at school this morning.  The sign out front said...... Christ walks beside you, before you and behind you.  I've passed by this church every single weekday morning for 4 years.  I've never once noticed the various messages on that sign before today.  There must be a message for me here! I often...

Pobody's Nerfect

Posted in Jobs & Career on Thu, Mar 15 2007 - 06:33 PM

I've been trying to figure out the solution to a problem that I have and I have been consciously trying to just listen to God for guidance.  Every time I catch myself trying formulating various solutions, I stop and say, "Lord, talk to me.  Let me hear what I am supposed to do."  I've been trying to be patient but that problem-solver...

Night of the Twisters Spent Safely Under the Palm of His Hand

Posted in Jobs & Career on Fri, Mar 02 2007 - 05:48 PM

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me.  ......No One can snatch them out of my hand.  My Father who has given them to me is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand.  John 10:27-29Last night was one of the most terrifying and praiseworthy nights of my entire life!  I have now been awake over 37 hours...

No Ordinary Grandmother

Posted in Jobs & Career on Wed, Feb 28 2007 - 04:30 PM

My Grandmother passed away last summer.  Today is her birthday and I've been thinking of her a lot.  I miss her.  I have so many fond memories of her that I wanted to dedicate this blog to just a few of those. I wrote a poem about her that the preacher read at her funeral.  It was titled No Ordinary Grandmother.  The title I picked was perfect...

Beach Bummed

Posted in Jobs & Career on Wed, Feb 21 2007 - 01:11 PM

My favorite place in the world is the beach.  I love everything about it--the beautiful white sand between my toes, the smell, the constant rolling of the waves, the sunrise and the sunset.  There is just something about the beach that makes me feel good! I am a self-admitted worry wart.  I worry a lot about little senseless things!  I get "...

Portable Toilet with a Big Red Bow

Posted in Jobs & Career on Sat, Feb 17 2007 - 11:44 AM

Every Saturday morning, My daughter and I go out walking.  We love the fresh air and exercise.  This morning, we noticed a Portable Toilet (Port-a-Pot) at the construction site for a new home.  My daughter made some comment about it and it reminded me of a funny story--something that would have embarrassed my daugher terribly had it happend to her....

Bad Hair Day

Posted in Jobs & Career on Sat, Feb 17 2007 - 11:01 AM

Here is another one of my devotions for "tweener" girls.  My daughter came up with the theme for this one. Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of  jewelry and fine clothes.  Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.  1 Peter 3: 3-...

One Huge Wallet!

Posted in Jobs & Career on Tue, Feb 13 2007 - 07:36 PM

Have you ever met those Dad's that keep a string of pictures in their wallets?  You ask them how their kids are doing and they not only tell you but they show you! You get to see several years worth of school pictures, baseball pictures, cheerleading pictures and the family portrait!  He brags profusely on each as he goes through them being...

He Understands

Posted in Jobs & Career on Fri, Feb 09 2007 - 06:51 PM

This is the rough draft of one of my devotions for girls. 1 Peter 5:7Cast all of your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.  Have you ever felt like the whole world was against you? Like no one understands? Like you just don't fit in?  Like you don't even want to fit it? Have you ever felt like life just isn't fair and you are tired of it!  All ...

I Told You Once, I'm Not Telling You Again! said the Lord

Posted in Jobs & Career on Thu, Feb 08 2007 - 04:23 PM

I cannot remember if I've said it in a prior blog or not, but I am working on a book of devotions for girls ages 11-13.  I didn't just arbitrarily pick those ages.  I got a distinct message that these were the exact ages that I should target.  I got this message about a year ago in a church service.  For some time, I had been rather unhappy at...

Rock, Paper, Scissors

Posted in Jobs & Career on Tue, Feb 06 2007 - 05:15 PM

Have you ever felt like you had no big plan for your life? (Corporate America would call that "planning to fail").   Have you ever felt like "stuff" just happens to you instead of you making things happen?  (Yeah, we talk about that it the corporate world too!) Have you ever known people who always seem to "have it...

Prayer Pains

Posted in Jobs & Career on Sat, Jan 27 2007 - 07:18 AM

My whole life I've been taught the importance of prayer and that prayer changes things.  You should pray always believing that God will answer.  You should always have faith that your prayer will be answered.  The bible says so.When my Dad was diagnosed with brain cancer, we all went into prayer mode.  We prayed for a miracle and believed it would ...

Freezing Cold, But I've Gotta Leave The Fan On!

Posted in Jobs & Career on Tue, Jan 16 2007 - 05:50 PM

As I was growing up, my family did not have a lot of money.  We always had a lot of fun and I never felt that I lacked for anything.  My parents were great at making sure we appreciated and enjoyed what we did have. We lived in a big, old house built before the Civil War.  (My Mom still lives there.)  We didn't have central heat or air.  Summers...

Real Men Wear Pink

Posted in Jobs & Career on Tue, Jan 09 2007 - 06:06 PM

My Uncle Terry went to heaven on Sunday afternoon.  He was surrounded by his family with hymns playing in the background.  It was peaceful but so very painful for those he was leaving behind. I have always heard that only "real men" wear pink.  My uncle wore pink!  And he was one of the best men that I have ever known.  My Aunt says he...
