Dream of Death

Posted in General on Fri, Apr 14 2017 - 01:00 PM

Night before last I dreamed I died. It was a pleasant dream, peaceful, joyful - an easy death. I simply died. I didn't see any bright lights or angels; however, I was aware I was accompanied although I didn't see who was accompanying me. I knew I was heading to heaven and was excited to get there. But I awoke before arriving in heaven or...

A Good Night's Sleep

Posted in General on Thu, Apr 13 2017 - 01:30 PM

I slept really well last night which is not always the case. Some nights, especially when the moon is full, I lie there wide awake without a sleepy bone in my body, even if I am tired. I installed light blocking curtains so that I can't even see if the moon is full. But my body seems to know and respond to that full moon with total wakefulness....

Behold, I make all things new!

I've loved butterflies for years, ever since I learned they are a symbol for the transformation Christ makes in our lives when we invite Him in to be our Lord and Savior. Just like the hungry caterpillar buries itself in its cocoon and emerges a beautiful creature who spends the rest of its life pollinating flowering plants and enabling life and...

DNA results

Posted in General on Fri, Apr 07 2017 - 12:03 AM

Yesterday my DNA results arrived in my email. I've been anticipating this arrival and was excited to see if there were any surprises included in the results. Most was what I already knew. My ancestry mainly comes from Ireland, Great Britain, and Western Europe. The DNA merely confirmed family history. But my big surprise was that my ancestry also...

When you see me ...

Today a friend from China came to visit. Her parents will soon interview at the U.S. Embassy for a visa so they can come to visit her. We are excitedly preparing for their visit. I've not met her parents yet, and I don't speak Chinese. But I look forward to welcoming them. As we talked together, I expressed my eagerness to see her parents in...

April Fool's + 2

Posted in General on Mon, Apr 03 2017 - 12:02 AM

All day long on April 1 I tried to think of a funny April Fool's joke to play. But nothing came to mind. It was just me and my hubby hanging around the house that day - no visitors, no phone calls, just us two old people. It was a beautiful day with sunshine and a light breeze, unlike the last day of March. That day belied the old saying, "March...

Soaking up love

In January I learned to "knit" ruffle scarves. I have tried to knit before with little success. I have poor hand-to-eye coordination (I flunked cutting with scissors in elementary school!), so I lack the dexterity required to properly hold knitting needles and maintain consistent tension with the yarn. However, the ruffle scarves are...

A New Year ... a new beginning ... a new opportunity!

A new year...a new beginning...a new opportunity. I love new things. I remember when I was a child and my mother sewed new clothes for me. I was always so excited the first time I got to wear the new dress or blouse or skirt or ... whatever the new outfit was. The new clothes made me feel special and new all over. That's the feeling I get with a...

I just want to thank You.

Posted in Personal on Mon, Dec 12 2011 - 12:40 AM

It's easy in the hurley-burley, busy, demanding, problem-filled day to forget that I am to give thanks "in" everything (I Thessalonians 5:18 KJV) and "for" all things (Ephesians 5:20 KJV). What a difference giving thanks makes! How can I be upset or angry or bitter when I am giving thanks? It's impossible! 16Rejoice evermore. 17Pray...

Clear vision

I woke up late this morning. The day is shrouded in fog. I was fooled into thinking it was still early. But when I couldn't go back to sleep, I checked my watch and was astounded at the time. Foggy mornings make for good sleeping! I'm glad I don't have to drive anywhere soon, and I'm hoping the fog has cleared before I do have to drive. Driving...

Fishing

It's been a while since I've been fishing, although I always enjoyed that activity. I remember learning to fish as a child with a cane pole and a worm. Those times of fishing were lessons in patience. I remember Friday evenings when I was a little girl. Friends would come to visit with my parents. The talk would turn to fishing and the next thing ...

Appreciation messages

Periodically on a social networking site, people post messages about different people in their lives. Normally, I don't repost; but this week I did. The "I Care" message follows: "Nurses are being scorned for being late with medicines by one minute sometimes, yet they are holding their bladder because they don't have time to use the...

Breathless and awestruck!

Posted in Personal on Thu, Oct 06 2011 - 11:16 AM

Last weekend I rode the cog rail up Pike's Peak to the 14,115 foot top. I had flown in to Denver on Friday to visit my daughter and her husband. Mile High City at 5,280 feet above sea level made me feel breathless as I walked to the baggage claim area. My home city is only about 500 feet above sea level, so I really felt the change in altitude....

Dreaming Dreams

Posted in Personal on Wed, Sep 28 2011 - 12:20 AM

Last night I dreamed that several friends and I were getting ready for Jesus' return. We were so excited and happy. I remember shouting with joy, "It's here! It's today!" The dream lasted a long time. I know because I woke up and looked at the clock that is projected on to our ceiling. It was 2:18 a.m. Then I went back to sleep and continued the...

Innoculation

I got a flu shot this week. Now that may not be a big deal to some people, but it was to me. More than 30 years ago I got a flu shot and immediately went into a reaction. My chest began to feel hot, turned red and began to itch. The redness and heat moved up my chest and on to my throat. I began to have trouble breathing. The doctor who gave me...

Kaput!

My fancy coffeemaker went kaput...gave up the ghost....bit the dust...bought the farm...kicked the bucket...died...but it didn't meet its maker because I threw it in the dumpster rather than send it back to the manufacturer. I had noticed that it wasn't operating right for a couple of weeks, but never once thought that it was on its last leg. But...

In the midst of sorrow

I've received no confirmation message regarding Jean Carley, Robert's wife. But judging by condolence messages I have seen, I believe she is dancing with Jesus. I pray for her children and Rob that the Lord will comfort them, give them peace and joy in the midst of sorrow, and help them through this difficult time. She is one of the most beautiful ...

Reminder

This morning as I poured my coffee, my hubby said, "Come in here with me and sit down. I want to tell you something." I always feel a sense of dread when he says that. It usually means worrisome news. This morning was no exception. I finished pouring my coffee, walked into the den, and sat down in my recliner. "Okay," I said, "what's the subject."...

"Prescription" day

Posted in Personal on Thu, Sep 01 2011 - 05:22 PM

I've decided that today is "prescription" day. My hubby and I both had prescriptions that needed filling so I've been on the phone or computer several times making sure they all got ordered. Then I drove to the pharmacy and picked up the ones that were filled. Since we retired, we have laughed that if we didn't have doctor appointments  or...

Invitation to the Lord's banquet table

I got up early this morning to make lemonade. My neighbor's mother passed away last week. As the family is not affiliated with any church, I offered to take a meal today after the funeral. The family isn't large, so it's not a hardship. I woke up this morning and realized that I hadn't planned something to drink...thus the lemonade. Through the...

Needing water

Today I looked out the windows at my back yard and noticed large brown spots where the grass needs water. I have a sprinkler system. However, I lowered the time it sprays the yard during the winter due to the frequent, heavy rains we experienced this year. I need to reprogram the sprinkler system to water the grass for longer periods. That means I ...

Answered Prayer

Posted in Personal on Fri, Jul 22 2011 - 11:35 AM

I learned at an early age from my mother that when you belong to God, He hears and answers prayers. Yet I never cease to be amazed at how my Heavenly Father cares about even the smallest request. My sisters and I often talk about those "God-Incidences" when He has heard, answered, and provided for us beyond our wildest expectations. I feel sorry...

Foxtail

Recently my big old orange cat showed up at the back door squinting one eye. I could tell he had something in it, but I couldn't see what it was. So I called the vet and made an appointment for the next day as that was as early as they could get me in. I worried and fretted that whatever was in his eye would do damage before we could get him to...

Picking lemons

Posted in Personal on Tue, Jun 21 2011 - 09:58 AM

Last weekend we met some friends for ice cream. One friend has an apricot tree that is loaded with apricots. She has picked and canned until she doesn't want to do anymore. I offered to trade her some lemons for apricots, which she was glad to do. This morning I went out to pick lemons so I will have a bag to trade. When I first approached the...

About: Faith in Christ is the foundation of my essence. My relationship with Jesus began when I was nearly six years old when I asked Jesus to come into my heart and be my Savior. But my testimony doesn't end there. Throughout my 60+ years, the Lord has been growing me and leading me through valleys and up on mountaintops to develop the character He wants me to have. I have learned that He truly does work all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purposes. Trust is key to a deep abiding obedient relationship with my Heavenly Father. God bless all who enter here!
