I just want to thank You.

Authored by jolanell on Mon, Dec 12 2011 - 12:40 AM

It's easy in the hurley-burley, busy, demanding, problem-filled day to forget that I am to give thanks "in" everything (I Thessalonians 5:18 KJV) and "for" all things (Ephesians 5:20 KJV). What a difference giving thanks makes! How can I be upset or angry or bitter when I am giving thanks? It's impossible! 16Rejoice evermore. 17Pray ...

Clear vision

Authored by jolanell on Mon, Nov 28 2011 - 10:23 AM

I woke up late this morning. The day is shrouded in fog. I was fooled into thinking it was still early. But when I couldn't go back to sleep, I checked my watch and was astounded at the time. Foggy mornings make for good sleeping! I'm glad I don't have to drive anywhere soon, and I'm hoping the fog has cleared before I do have to drive. Driving ...

Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.  2 Timonthy 4:2 (NIV) Since the first of October, I have been in training to be a Volunteer Victim's Advocate.  I have attended training seminars, read my manual front and back several times, and ...

What am I worth??

Authored by m7th on Fri, Nov 25 2011 - 01:41 AM

From time to time I go through an inventory session with the Lord because I have been out of the public for some time now. There is something about the pastoral chair that gives a feeling of accomplishment that seems lost in the other things I have been involved in. I could write a volume on my hearts desire and where I want to go. Feeling ...

It's been a while since I've been fishing, although I always enjoyed that activity. I remember learning to fish as a child with a cane pole and a worm. Those times of fishing were lessons in patience. I remember Friday evenings when I was a little girl. Friends would come to visit with my parents. The talk would turn to fishing and the next thing ...

Appreciation messages

Authored by jolanell on Sat, Nov 19 2011 - 11:06 AM

Periodically on a social networking site, people post messages about different people in their lives. Normally, I don't repost; but this week I did. The "I Care" message follows: "Nurses are being scorned for being late with medicines by one minute sometimes, yet they are holding their bladder because they don't have time to use the ...

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3) Being a Christian site, we take for granted that everyone here is born again. What does it mean to be born again? It means repenting for our sins and recognizing that Jesus took the penalty for them that ...

Who's Friend Are You?

Last week I heard a teaching on the difference between a volunteer and a servant... Sunday, Brother Keith Moore (Faith Life Church), was teaching about serving... And last night the Lord ministered to me on friendship. We all know the scripture about a friend sticking closer than a brother... So the question is: what am I doing to help my ...

I saw the title on one of the videos here on Praize.  It said, "Wisdom for LIfe's Trials".  My immediate thought was, "I have to watch that!"  Hubby called me over to his computer, pointed, and said, "What is this?"  I looked where he was pointing, at a title under Popular Forum Posts.  It said, "Looking For A Real Born ...

Breathless and awestruck!

Authored by jolanell on Thu, Oct 06 2011 - 11:16 AM

Last weekend I rode the cog rail up Pike's Peak to the 14,115 foot top. I had flown in to Denver on Friday to visit my daughter and her husband. Mile High City at 5,280 feet above sea level made me feel breathless as I walked to the baggage claim area. My home city is only about 500 feet above sea level, so I really felt the change in altitude. ...

What are you thinking about today?  Are you happy?  Are you thinking positive thoughts or dwelling on the things you want changed in your life. Are you feeling unappreciated? No one cares? Why, Lord, why do they have more than I have? Watch Joyce Meyer today, "Enjoying Q & A, Pt.1" ...

Is It Well With Your Soul?

Authored by nomorechains on Wed, Oct 05 2011 - 06:41 AM

"It Is Well with My Soul" is a very influential hymn penned by hymnist Horatio Spafford and composed by Philip Bliss. This hymn was written after several traumatic events in Spafford’s life. The first was the death of his only son in 1871 at the age of four, shortly followed by the great Chicago Fire which ruined him financially (he had ...

Dreaming Dreams

Authored by jolanell on Wed, Sep 28 2011 - 12:20 AM

Last night I dreamed that several friends and I were getting ready for Jesus' return. We were so excited and happy. I remember shouting with joy, "It's here! It's today!" The dream lasted a long time. I know because I woke up and looked at the clock that is projected on to our ceiling. It was 2:18 a.m. Then I went back to sleep and continued the ...

I have been listening to a word by Rabbi Jonathan Cahn which has spoken of things that are happening here in the US at present that was something that was spurred on from 9/11/2001 and the teaching is linked to Isaiah 9:10. The same warnings are going on here to bring us back to God and to direct us to seek into God. Reading further in Isaiah 12 & ...

Where else can I go, Lord?

Authored by praizeop2 on Sat, Sep 24 2011 - 09:25 PM

Where else can I go, Lord? I have a church family, but I can't talk to them about this sin. Father, if I told someone what I have done, they would not want to associate with me.  Am I evil?  Why can't I overcome the bad things in my life? Who can I talk to?  I talk to You, but You don't answer me.  What do I do when my life ...

God, everyday I'm alive, I find myself battling with unseen forces of darkness whose objective it is to Kill me. or at least render me completely useless for your kingdom. I am so sick of fighting to fend them off. It's like a constant barrage against my mind, body, and spirit. They tempt me in every way they can, they know my weak spots, and they ...

I got a flu shot this week. Now that may not be a big deal to some people, but it was to me. More than 30 years ago I got a flu shot and immediately went into a reaction. My chest began to feel hot, turned red and began to itch. The redness and heat moved up my chest and on to my throat. I began to have trouble breathing. The doctor who gave me ...

My fancy coffeemaker went kaput...gave up the ghost....bit the dust...bought the farm...kicked the bucket...died...but it didn't meet its maker because I threw it in the dumpster rather than send it back to the manufacturer. I had noticed that it wasn't operating right for a couple of weeks, but never once thought that it was on its last leg. But ...
