I had the chance to listen to "Serve Yourself" a half hour ago, and it seems as if John Lennon liked to talk out of both sides of his mouth (there were other comments Lennon made that were more supportive of Dylan's Christianity, albeit in a reserved way). I gather the song is meant to be a mockery of Bob Dylan's song "You Got to Serve Somebody" and Lennon recorded about 10 versions of it for his personal use. Apparently he didn't have the nerve to let Dylan hear it publicly.It is really an abrasive attack against Dylan and faith in general and not a good thing to have done in the last year of Lennon's life, or at any time for that matter. May God have mercy on his soul.

In 1974 John Lennon recorded his "Mind Games" album. One track on the album was called the "Nutopian International Anthem" and consisted of about 3 to 4 seconds of silence. The album was full of references to things like "Karma" and "Peace on Earth". The media around the world still likes to hold up this kind of view of him (as a visionary) and the verious things that he said. Things that spoke to a whole generation...
One of his last songs he recorded during the year of 1980 was called "Serve yourself" and was included on an "Anthology" album back in the late 90's. This one song (to anybody who has had a chance to hear it) still says a lot about His 'state of mind' (in reference to God) right before he died... I still say "He was wrong" and if you read the Bible you will find out why...
But Lennon was not the only Beatle to have verious views about "God" that spoke to that same generation. The personal views of George Harrison have also been well documented in verious books and biography's over time...
Just as I said in my Blog post so I will say right here in relation to his song "My sweet Lord", and that is that "Jesus Christ was never an "Incarnation" of Krishna or Buddah or any other god". So this song cannot be about "Jesus Christ" if he's got singers singing the "Krishna" mantra in the background of song. So I will say here in conclusion that Harrison was just as wrong as Lennon was in his thinking towards God and just who He really is...

A lot of things happened "helter skelter" during Beatlemania and John Lennon admitted this. It was also one of the reasons Lennon did NOT want to reformulate the group. One thing he mentioned before he died might surprise people:
" People always got the image I was an anti-Christ or anti religion. I'm not. I'm a most religious fellow. I was brought up a Christian and I only now understand some of the things that Christ was saying in those parables. Because people got hooked on the teacher and missed the message" (John Lennon 1980 interview/Jan 81 Playboy).
In the 70s people were more interested in stars and superstars. There were older people I knew that were reading the Bible but nobody I knew, from my generation other than myself. I'm sure they were out there. But maybe that's why a lot of people call the Baby Boomers the spiritually illiterate generation. Also Lennon's father left him and his mother and he was raised by his Aunt Mimi. Not the most stable footing. The hard drugs in the 60s and later did him a lot of harm in spite of the way he waved it off. Also in the 70s when he went on drinking binges with Kieth Moon and Nilsson. Lennon said in the interview they were trying to kill themselves. Kieth Moon did die.
What was probably the greatest fault of " the great generation" (the parents of Baby Boomers), they packed their kids off to church but hardly a word was mentioned from the Bible at home. Lucky if you would hear grace.I'm sure things were somewhat different in some parts of the US but I got a feeling that that type of thing was pretty common in the northeast (New York, Toronto, Washington, Montreal). Being born in 1940 Lennon was neither a Baby Boomer nor part of the "great generation" that fought in WWII.
Just before he was killed John Lennon was softening on Buddhism, but still keeping his distance from Christianity.
In the interview John Lennon warned us about "Big Sister" and the coming of "Aldous Huxley". Likely refering to "Brave New World" which Aldous Huxley wrote (considered a negative view of the future in Huxley's own opinion). Some of these things have started to happen.I think John Lennon did a lot of things wrong and he underestimated what peace requires. One thing he forgot to factor in: YOU WILL NEVER HAVE WORLD PEACE AS LONG AS SATAN IS RUNNING AROUND. Had John Lennon lived 10 years longer and continued to read the Bible I think he would have seen that Jesus was more than just another intelligent philosopher.That's if he could have accepted Jesus as Savior.
