Honesty Pays

My devotional today was the verse found in Proverbs 11:5.:"The godly are directed by their honesty"(New Living Translation).  Another version renders it this way:"The righteous of the blameless will smooth his way,BUT the wicked will fall by his own wickedness."(Ryerson Study Bible).

All my life I have been taught honesty. Sometimes it can turn against you but that is  another story or is it?I have heard on news casts that some who are honest in whatever the situation was got the short end of the stick. 

God desires His children to be honest in all they do,say and live.  It is a principle..a life moral value and attitude of righteousness.  AS His believers and as Christians we are to live our lives 'holy unto the Lord,as HE is holy.'  We fail many times,yet it is only right to be honest. God says we are directed by our honesty through Him and the work of the Holy Spirit

One day after doing my banking errands at the teller wicket,I glanced  down and thinking it was garbage I proceeded to pick it up.  Upon closer inspection it was a crumpled-up 100 dollar bill.  I could do two things. One,I could pocket the money and descreetly pocket it,OR with a conscience and an attitude of honesty I could return it to the teller.  What do you think I did?  Would you have done the same?  Yes, my immediate action was to enquire at the teller wicket and let them look after it.  To call me if it was not claimed after a certain time period.  It passed and never heard about it again.  Yet I was faithful in adhering to the promptings of the Holy Spirit to do what was right in the sight of God and man.  What was my pay?  It was the fact that I had done the right thing and felt blessed in doing so.

Honesty covers many areas in our lives ,in fact,our whole life. It does bring blessings when we adhere to Micah's verse: And what does the Lord require of you,BUT to do justice,to love kindness and to walk humbly with God"

Luke says,"And the seed in the good soil those are the ones who have heard the Word in an honest and good heart,and hold it fast and bear fruit with preserverence."

Let us remember that honst pays.  That with every blessing we receive we turn it back to God...even when honesty pays.

Honesty does pay. And as God wants us to do, take everything to him through prayer. It's in God's hands not man. Who's in charge? God's in charge. I say that because sometimes people find themselves against a prevailing law that, in some countries is the prevailing law but not honest. At this point we must trust in God, have faith and pray in order to do what is right in the eyes of God not man. God Bless.
