James 4:2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

The Bible says that we don’t have because we do not ask, so, why do we not have WHEN WE DO ASK?

We pray for the sick to be healed and then watch them walk away unchanged.

We pray for better governance and watch our leaders get more selfish and corrupt.

We pray for souls to be saved and watch our church attendance decline.

We ask, and we ask, and we ask, and WE ASK but it is like we are alone.

WHY? Where is our God and why do we not have the things we are praying for?

How can we pray for good things and not see God moving to answer? Surly not ALL of our prayers are a desire for us to consume it upon our lusts.

I hear the same prayers repeated over and over again but to no avail.

Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Matthew 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Opps, so we ARE NOT supposed to repeatedly ask for the same thing over and over again. So, we are doing THAT wrong.

Surely we are doing some of it right.

John 16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

John 16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

But, but I always end my prayer ‘in Jesus’ name’, Isn’t THAT enough?

Well…, I’m not sure if Jesus agreed with me or not, but I did say ‘in Jesus’ name’. Sometimes, He talks so low that I’m not sure I heard Him anyway.

I’m His servant, Isn’t that enough to get what I ask for?

Luke 6:46  And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

Opps, didn’t I just hear Him say that He loved me?

2 John 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

Okay, I think, Jesus told me to pray and, now, I should get what I asked for, Right?

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Galatians 3:5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Okay, So I should be HEARING FROM JESUS and pray according to His wishes?

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

But, I believe Jesus SAID those things in the past and in His word; isn’t that enough?

Surely my situation is the same and He will give me the same response; won’t He?

Luke 9:35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

Okay, okay, I HAVE TO LISTEN and HEAR JESUS to receive what HE SAYS I WILL RECEIVE.

Matthew 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

But, I speak, believing that it will be done according to the words that I HAVE SPOKEN. So, it should be done, right?

John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

John 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

So, Jesus heard and acted, then He got what He asked for because He was obeying His father’s words.

Hum, now do you suppose that Jesus wants ME to DO THE SAME THING HE DID?

John 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Hum, so, if I speak without Jesus telling me to, I am working in my own name.

John 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

John 14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
