566 SILENCE.

Ecclesiastes 3:7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

Is silence really golden?

Ever since God created this world, there has never been a time of complete silence. We are surrounded by ‘white noise’. That is the noise of existence; wind, birds, animals, movement, sea waves, insects, etc.

That does not begin to talk about the noise that we create; machines, traffic, conversations, our ‘inventions’, etc.

We are the noisiest thing on this planet and now we carry a constant supply of noise in our hands; our cel. phones.

God wants to talk to us but, HE IS GOD and should not have to shout over the din to be heard. He should be important enough, to us, for us to stop and listen to what He wants to say to us.

Psalms 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

I have seen a picture of a ‘soundproof’ room that is designed to absorb all sound and deaden it so it does not return to those in it. They have placed a chair in the center of the room and invited people to sit there to see how long they can endure complete silence. I believe the longest anyone has been able to stand sitting in complete silence there has been 45 minutes. (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2124581/The-worlds-quietest-place-chamber-Orfield-Laboratories.html)

The thing is, is that we cannot stand silence. We must have noise, white or otherwise, because we are used to it.

We do not consider ‘noise’ to be harmful or a distraction but, in reality, it is like anything else. Unless we control what and how much we have, it can drown out the important things of life.

I have seen YouTube videos of people standing too close to danger and not knowing that danger is near them until it is too late for them to move. Being YouTube, they do not post the videos of those who have died by not hearing the danger coming at them.

Yet this world is heading to death because of the lack of hearing God’s word, which warns them of the judgement to come.

Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Matthew 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

This warning IS FOR EVERYONE!

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Not hearing will not be an excuse because God’s word is being preached throughout the whole world.

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

The warning is being spoken but the people do not hear.

Matthew 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Like white noise, the spoken gospel is not important enough for people to stop and hear, and yet the danger is very real for their eternal salvation.

There is only one scripture where there will be silence but, by then, it will be too late to hear.

Revelation 8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

Yes, silence is golden. It will give us the opportunity to hear the gospel of God’s word so we might heed His warning and repent.

Save yourself, while there is still time to hear.

Acts 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

The promise is to YOU!

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Be silent, hear and be saved because God wants to talk to YOU!
