A very dear friend of mine, Paul, was a missionary in India. He has passed away but I think of him and marvel at the impact he made on the lives of the people he served. Children were his main focus. Did you know that if a child does not hear about Jesus and have the opportunity to accept Him as a child, the likelihood of them ever becoming a Christian is pretty low?
One of my first impressions of Paul was when he visited my church when I was in high school. He opened his message with Psalm 63. I remember how neat it was to find that his favorite verse was also mine. It seemed like our spirits made a connection that day and the impact he has made on my life has been very profound. I have had the joy of being a part of a ministry at my church that goes out into the community and helps people when we see the need. I thank the Lord that I had Paul's example and that passion has been re-ignited within me.
O God, you are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land
where there is no water.
I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth
will praise you.
On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.
Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.
My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.
