562 BELIEVING, PART TWO.

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

In part one, we understand that to believe, one must have something to believe in.

Even though there are many beliefs and many things, that mankind believes in, the only real and true belief has to be in the truth. To believe in a lie or an untruth, is to believe in something that is not real. Even though the lie is real, the substance of the lie is not.

Believing must be followed by some form of action to be real.

James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Our believing in something will always be followed by the actions pertaining to that belief.

When we believe or have faith in something, we WILL ACT believing that that something is the truth. A word, a belief, an action, an experience, a feeling, or whatever, if we believe it to be true, then we will trust and act on it.

Many people trust in ‘luck’ but, when they act on it, they soon learn that ‘luck’ is not trustworthy and will disappoint them.

When Jesus says to trust Him, it means to place your faith in His life, His actions, and His words.

Acts 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

1 Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

Jesus gave us a formula to follow before we act on what we think is true.

John 8:17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.

When we have multiple witnesses, this is reassuring to our faith but Jesus also went further and included God as His witness.

John 8:18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.

He also went further and spoke of the works that He did in fulfilling scriptures were a witness to His authenticity.

John 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.

All of these evidences are present with God and Jesus so YOU can test the spirits and know which one is from God and true or not.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

To recap, you will hear something and have to decide if it is true or not before you believe and act on it.

Your first action should be to see if it is according to God’s word.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Your next action should be to investigate the person or voice that you heard the words from.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Your next action should be to see the results of that action, which occurred in others who believed the same thing that came to you. There is always someone, whom you can follow.

John 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

If you are convinced that what you believe came from Christ and was given to you, personally, then act on and trust in what you believe is for you.

This is how a Christian is to live, trusting God to bring into their life what He wants and trusting God to reveal everything, which is false so they may reject it.

Believing is the first step to right thoughts and right actions. Believing in Jesus Christ does not stop with a thought or an idea.

James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
