Mega Churches- Pros and Cons
God wired us to stay connected with other believers to foster our faith, provide support, and be encouraged. "Don’t stop meeting together with other believers, which some people have gotten into the habit of doing....." (Hebrews 10:25, CEB). However, finding the ideal Church can be tricky, especially when deciding which size of Church to attend. One option many consider are mega Churches. Be definition, a mega Church is any congregation over 10,000 members, such as Flatirions Church and Saddleback Church. Mega Churches come with many pros and some cons. Some of the top pros include dynamic, engaging speakers and incredible music. Another pro is mega Churches usually provide excellent programs for children/teens because they have so many resources. The last major pro is you can feel anonymous if you'd like without pressure to volunteer or people hounding you, which can sometimes occur in smaller Churches. While this is a long list of pros mega Churches also come with two major limitations to consider. First, the crowds can sometimes be stressful with parking, shuffling through the masses, and finding seating. Second, it can be much more difficult to cultivate a sense of community because you usually don't see the same people each service.
