Romans 1:10 Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.

Everything has a beginning; there is always a place to start before we can get anywhere.

The beginning is always a frightful place because all is in front of us. We see what a huge effort it is going to take.

That is why it is always encouraging to have someone ahead of us to encourage and enlighten us; someone to follow.

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

However, it still takes an effort on your part to start; put your foot forward, lean into the trail, lift your hand to reach ahead, say the first word, or make the first move.

Matthew 23:4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

Even a journey we have taken before has much to do at the start. Just because we have travelled there before does not mean that we can start with nothing. In fact, there is more to do because we have a better idea what the journey will require.

Having someone along, who has been along the path before, will be a comfort and a good source of advice but the initial start is up to us.

It is OUR START on OUR JOURNEY to get to OUR GOAL. No one else can travel our journey for us.

If we do not ‘start’ then we cannot ‘finish’.

Romans 9:28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

Jesus made a place for all mankind to ‘start’ their relationship with the God that they did not know. He lived as an example of the way to go and died to give us repentance as the starting place.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Jesus has made the start evident to all so that all may start their journey with God the father. He did all He possibly could to give us our starting place. The actual start must be done by each one of us, individually.

It IS a daunting place to be but I can speak with confidence that it is a wonderful journey, once you start. I was at the start at one time and I did not want to begin but Jesus kindly encouraged me to begin and I did.

Starting was not as hard as I imagined it would be and the journey is so full of pleasant surprises that the rewards are well worth the effort.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Matthew 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

I can only encourage you to ‘start’ your journey with God and with Jesus’ help. The actual starting MUST BE DONE BY YOU.

1 Corinthians 16:11 Let no man therefore despise him: but conduct him forth in peace, that he may come unto me: for I look for him with the brethren.

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Don’t hesitate. Don’t think about after.
