Psalms 71:8 Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.

Praise; who or what are you giving yours to?

Everyone praises someone or something. You do not have to listen to any one person for very long before you have a good idea what they hold dear in their heart.

A man in love will always steer the conversation to his loved one, one who loves money will talk about their wealth, and one who loves power will often be found praising prominent people or things.

Even the poor will tell you what they value the most by their conversations.

Those things that are the most important to us will be praised and well-spoken so everyone will know its value to us.

Things become gods when we value them enough to give them our praise.

Deuteronomy 29:17 And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)

Try asking a car enthusiast about a ’57 Chevy and see how long the conversation goes on or ask a gun enthusiast about a Ruger 6.5 Creedmoor. You will get an earful.

So, why do we not have the same enthusiasm for Christ? Because He is not popular and not important to the masses of this world. He is God’s son and worthy of the praises of God’s people BUT not to the idol worshipers.

They have other gods whom they praise.

Jeremiah 10:2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

Jeremiah 10:3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

Jeremiah 10:4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

And then sing ‘Oh, Christmas tree, oh, Christmas tree’.

Do you see how easy it is to give praise to those things that are not worthy of praise? The world will ridicule you for not singing and tell you it is harmless but God says; Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Matthew 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

God is looking for righteousness upon His earth and He is finding very little of it, even among His own.

It is not popular to praise God and Jesus so we avoid it in fear of offending the offenders.

Well, Jesus has done everything, which is worthy of praise in MY LIFE BY GIVING ME HIS.

I MUST PRAISE HIM or be counted an unworthy servant.

I don’t mean sing a simple song repeating the words ‘praise Him, praise Him’, but actually TELL PEOPLE why He is worthy of praise by explaining the praiseworthy things He has done for me.

The times I was short of cash and He provide either cash or a means for me to earn it.

The many times I was in need of a friend or some comfort and He was there to speak softly of His love for me or would send me one of His servants to help me feel better.

The many times I would be mistaken in my reasoning and He would show me where I was wrong; many times by His written word but not always. Many times He would just speak to me and help me understand. (however, when it come to Him proving that it was Him speaking, He would ALWAYS quote the Bible and send me to scripture.)

The way He has lead me through various doctrines, showing me what was true and false in each; while He taught me how to treat ALL His people as family.

I could go on but I don’t want to bore you with what God has done for me. I want to encourage you to explore what God is doing for you and see why He is worthy of YOUR PRAISE.

Psalm 35:28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.

Praise; 1: to say or write good things about (someone or something) : to express approval of (someone or something)

Praise requires us to DO SOMETHING not just repeat the word.

Revelation 19:5 And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
