Dream of Death

Night before last I dreamed I died. It was a pleasant dream, peaceful, joyful - an easy death. I simply died. I didn't see any bright lights or angels; however, I was aware I was accompanied although I didn't see who was accompanying me. I knew I was heading to heaven and was excited to get there. But I awoke before arriving in heaven or seeing Jesus.

When I awoke, I thanked God for the pleasant dream and asked Him if death were really that easy, pleasant, and peaceful. I heard His still small voice within my soul say, "Yes it is. So is dying to self."

That conversation has stuck with me. I know I belong to Him. I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior when only a small child. My life has been a continuous journey with Him as my Companion, Guide, Teacher, Friend, Admonisher, Encourager, Protector, Provider, and Healer. I look forward to eternity in heaven with my Heavenly Father.

But death is just the ending of this life as i know it. In the meantime, I have a lot of living to do. Jesus said in Luke 9:23-25, "23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it."

Heavenly Father, thank You that Jesus died for my sins and lives within my heart. Thank You for the assurance that I will spend eternity with You. Thank You for reminding me that daily I need to die to self, take up my cross, and follow You.

My mother was in her late sixties when she suffered a bowel blockage. I took her to the hospital and would have stayed, but I was scheduled to go on a two week trip with the singing group, "Festival of Praise". (You can still find them on FB almost 40 years later!) My mother had given her life to Jesus just a year or so before and was concerned that she might die. I convinced her that if that was the case, she would not be alone, but that Jesus would be there to meet her and take her across. Well, she got so excited that she did not want to come back to this earth and the doctors has a little trouble with her. She did eventually come though on this side and I have several more years with her. Bless You, Lord! Blessings ~ Sarah

About: Faith in Christ is the foundation of my essence. My relationship with Jesus began when I was nearly six years old when I asked Jesus to come into my heart and be my Savior. But my testimony doesn't end there. Throughout my 60+ years, the Lord has been growing me and leading me through valleys and up on mountaintops to develop the character He wants me to have. I have learned that He truly does work all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purposes. Trust is key to a deep abiding obedient relationship with my Heavenly Father. God bless all who enter here!
