When you see me ...

Today a friend from China came to visit. Her parents will soon interview at the U.S. Embassy for a visa so they can come to visit her. We are excitedly preparing for their visit. I've not met her parents yet, and I don't speak Chinese. But I look forward to welcoming them. As we talked together, I expressed my eagerness to see her parents in person with my own eyes; and my friend said, "When you see me, you see my parents."

Immediately my mind went to Jesus words in John 14:8-10, "Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work."

My thoughts continued as I realized that, just as I can't see my friends parents who live in China until they arrive here, my friends and acquaintances can't see my Heavenly Father who lives in heaven and in my heart. But they can see me. Dare I say to them, "When you see me, you see my Father?" Do I exemplify Him in my thoughts, words, actions, attitudes, and purposes?

Dear Heavenly Father, please guide me in Your paths and purposes that I may exemplify You - that people around me can look at me and see You.

This is a very touching post, Joanell! VERY TOUCHING! I have a situation going on in my life right now where someone needs to see the Father in me. I need to pray for that. Also, interesting... I have a Chinese friend here that I was tutoring in English. Her mother just arrived here and I met her at church last Sunday! Very exciting. Blessings ~ Sarah

About: Faith in Christ is the foundation of my essence. My relationship with Jesus began when I was nearly six years old when I asked Jesus to come into my heart and be my Savior. But my testimony doesn't end there. Throughout my 60+ years, the Lord has been growing me and leading me through valleys and up on mountaintops to develop the character He wants me to have. I have learned that He truly does work all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purposes. Trust is key to a deep abiding obedient relationship with my Heavenly Father. God bless all who enter here!
