Growing Older

We're living in a crazy time! I know, I don't need to tell you that.  But those things that didn't bother me as a teen, a young mom, the writing years, the heading for retirement years.  Now, I feel like I'm on a strange planet, among hostiles!

Who knew?

For years, I struggled with balancing family and ministry.  And then the children went off to college, or married and I no longer needed to balance with children -- just with a busy husband.  Today, we are both...ummm...let's use this word "semi"-retired.

My husband still does occasional handiman jobs for seniors. While I write devotions and sermons. And preach, teach and counsel. Yes, we're busy, but it is an important busy!

It looks like we won't  sit in the rocking chair, watching TV for the time being. (do people still do that?) But we'll continue to balance life and ministry.  Long ago, we read Jeremiah 29:11.NIV says it like this:For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

So, whatever we do for the Lord is already in His plan. He's the one who keeps us going in our older years. I'm thankful, even in this "crazy time" because God has a plan. He's given us a hope and a future.

Glad I popped over here and read your thoughts today! He is definitely the one who keeps us going in these older years. I'm actually looking for a couple of white rocking chairs to set in our front atrium, not that we would have a lot of time to sit in them! Love and hugs!
