WHEN THE ANSWER IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU
LOML has a set of miniature tools. He uses them when he repairs his glasses from time to time. He keeps it on the window sill right beside his desk. The other morning his glasses came apart; the screw came out and the lens fell out. No problem!
"Dell," he called, "have you seen my tool set?"
"On the window sill by your desk," I called back.
By that time, I was in the room...ummm, to show him since, of course, he had suddenly become unable to see something two feet from his hand. Ooops, it wasn't there.
LOML said he had looked on the floor, but I moved his chair to look again. Together, we looked on his desk, and then looked on my desk. We questioned each other. "Did you move it?" The answer, of course was, "No!"
Finally, we gave up and he set his glasses aside.
That afternoon, when the sun began to shine through the window, LOML reached up to close the blind.
"Well look at that!" he said.
There it was! The little tool set hung from the bottom of the Venetian blind. He immediately set about repairing his glasses.
What LOML needed was right beside him all the time. All he needed to do was reach out and grab it.
Not long ago, I preached at a Winter Camp Meeting. I had a full hour to pour out the Gospel message for people to hear. Afterwards, people came to me with stories of their needs -- illnesses, financial difficulties, erring children, relationship problems -- and I would pray for each need. My goal was to once again show them that the One they need is with them.
God waits right there for us to reach out to him. He knows how to deal with those problems of illness, financial difficulties, erring children or relationship problems.
Today, reach out to the One who can help you. He is right there with you.
