A Transformed Life

Romans 12:2  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Scripture Lesson: Romans 12:9-21

People often ask the question, “How do you know if you are saved?”  I usually send them to 1 John, where he deals with the assurance of salvation.  We have that witness in our spirit that we are children of God.  It is a peace that passes understanding.

It is also important not to judge a person too quickly, for it is not up to us to determine if one is truly saved or not, for that is up to God, since He alone knows our hearts.

We are reminded throughout the New Testament, that if one claims to be a Christian their lives should show signs of a transformation.  Our attitudes, our desires, our goals, our choices should all demonstrate our changed heart.  The Apostle James dealt with this issue when he said, James 2:18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?

Our day to day activities, speech and actions should declare to the world whose we are.  The people we work with, play with, eat with, fellowship with should never question our faithfulness to Christ.  It was once said, “If you were ever arrested for being a Christian would they have enough evidence to convict you?”

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I pray that every day of my life demonstrates my love for You.  Holy Spirit, remind me whenever I say or do anything which grieves You!  Amen!
