IS THERE LIGHT IN YOUR DWELLING?

Is There Light In Your Dwelling?

Exodus 10:22-23  So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days. 23 They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

Why is it that so many Christians live in defeat?  Throughout scripture we have been told God is our Savior, Protector, Provider and Healer, among other things.  Even in the Old Testament we are given one example after another of God meeting the needs of His people in spite of world conditions.

Most people today, Christian and Non-Christian alike, have a very low opinion of the world condition.  Over the past fifty years they have witnessed a constant downturn in morality and human value.

In the opening passage, the Children of Israel were in the midst of utter darkness, as God poured out judgment upon Egypt.  While Egypt was in utter darkness, in their own homes they had light.  That utter darkness could not overcome the light of God’s love for them.

Today, in spite of the darkness surrounding us, we have been charged with “being light and sharing light.”  In Matthew 5:14-16 Jesus informs us of our responsibility to be a light to those around us.  We offer those dwelling in darkness THE Light and THE hope of the Gospel in the midst of chaos.

I ask you today, “Is their light in your dwelling?”  If so, open the shades, throw open the doors and let His light shine in your community, to your family and those in your sphere of influence. You bear the light of God’s Shekinah glory (God’s Presence) in you through the indwelling Holy Spirit.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, give me the courage to step out and allow Your light to shine through me.  After all, it is not me anyway, but Your glory, Your grace, Your truth and Your strength revealed in me by the Holy Spirit.  Amen!
