Jesus' First Sermon

Jesus' first sermon took place in his home town of Nazareth. In the Synagogue, He chose the scroll of Isaiah and opened it to read: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has send me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." (Luke 4:18,19)

As I read, I decided if Jesus needed Holy Spirit anointing, it goes without saying that you and I need the leading of Holy Spirit as well!

Many of us have been praying for our nation. We see conflicts brewing as never before. Yet, as Christian people, we are to continue to "proclaim good news, " and "proclaim freedom " to those in bondage.  We are to provide help for those who have been blinded to the truth and "set the oppressed free."  Without Holy Spirit anointing, we can't accomplish any of those things.

Today, let's pray for the leading and anointing of Holy Spirit.  Seek Him! Ask Him to help you "proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

Excellent post, RevDell. I need His anointing more than anyone! And I seldom think to ask for it. So thank you for the reminder. Blessings ~ Sarah
