A Short Theology of Joy

The following items will build upon  each pther and give you an expression of the theology of Joy according to thw Bible.  I adapted it from a sermon by John MacArthr.

My favorite definition of joy is this: joy is the flag that flies on the castle of the heart when the King (Jesus Christ) is in residence there.

  1. 1.       Joy comes from God.  It is a gift of God.
  2. 2.       Joy is a gift from God to those who believe the gospel.
  3. 3.       Joy is a gift from God to those who believe the gospel, who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  4. 4.       Joy is a gift from God to those who believe the gospel being produced in them by the Holy Spirit.
  5. 5.       True joy is a gift from God that comes to those who believe the gospel, being produced in them by the Holy Spirit as the believer receives and obeys the Word.
  6. 6.       True joy is a gift from God to those who believe the gospel, being produced in them by the Holy Spirit as they believe and receive the Word, or receive and apply it, and it is mixed with trials.
  7. 7.       True joy is a gift from God to those who believe the gospel, being produced in them by the Holy Spirit as they receive and obey the Word, mixed with trials, and set their hope on future glory – and set their hope on future glory.
