MERCY

THE GOOD REPORT

Mercy Is Love In Action

John 8:10-11 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours?  Has no one condemned you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.”  And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

So much attention today is given to GRACE we often forget that grace is motivated by love.  We always look to Jesus as our prime example.  How can we apply his example in our treatment of one another?

John 3:15-17 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Romans 5:8  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Take courage in the fact that God, in his grace, overlooks our sin in order to offer us mercy.  He does not ignore sin, but rather admonishes us to turn from a life of sinning and begin living a life which honors and exalts him.  We serve him out of love, not fear.  We are all recipients of God’s mercy.  How will you respond?  How can we demonstrate this love to others?  By living a life of love and compassion.

PRAYER:  Father, I thank you that you are the God of Mercy.  Your way is the way of love.  You are filled with compassion and concern for my soul.  I accept you on your terms and not on mine.  I surrender to your will and chose to accept Jesus Christ as my Redeemer and Lord.  Only he can establish a right relationship with you through his shed blood on the cross.  In your grace, you raised him from the dead and accepted his blood as payment in full for my sins.  Amen.
