Diamond Cutter

{Photo Credit Fancy Diamonds}

The natural diamond is formed, besides being found at meteor impacts, in the lithospheric mantle, under specific conditions. Carbon material is exposed to high pressure and temperature, crystallizing diamonds. Volcanic eruptions carry diamond-rocks from the mantle to the surface. Miners bring tons of rock out of volcanic pipes and extract rough diamonds. Sitting in front the cutter is what appears to be a lump of molten glass. He ponders it for a while, getting an image of the shape he wishes the diamond to be. The diamond cutter cleaves the gem down to size and then carefully begins bruiting. He skillfully takes off the unwanted rough spots and shapes it to his liking. Finally the diamond is smoothed down on a polishing wheel. A new beautiful thing has emerged from that ordinary lump!

Just like the diamond cutter chisels away the bad to make something new, so does Christ who removed all our bad, unwanted sins to create in us something new. He isn’t finished with us yet, still polishing us until we’re perfect.

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

I like that Jason! Amen you did a awesome job, very encouraging to know this about diamonds. I had no idea how diamonds were formed. I know it sure doesn't feel good when that master diamond cutter is doing his work, but we have the promise that we will someday be a exquisite jewel in his hands!!
