A WAY OF ESCAPE

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

In this verse the Greek word for “temptation” is peirosmos, which comes from the root word peirazo.  It’s definition is “to try, test, prove” in a good sense.  It relates to the fact that the world will put things in your life in an attempt to cause you to stray away from your faithfulness to God.  We all know from personal experience the world contains multitudes of such devices and options.  The beauty of this passage is what I have chosen to highlight in bold.  The Lord offers all of us a way of escape!

Throughout history, mankind has, for the most part, given in to temptation.   So much so, we have pushed God’s grace to the limit.  The first example was when He commissioned Noah to build an “Ark” for the saving of his family. (Genesis 6:13)  The Ark was his way of escape!  Jesus Christ IS that Ark!

When the people of Sodom and Gemorah became so vile and depraved He was forced to enact judgment upon them, He would not do so until He first informed His friend Abraham of His intentions. (Genesis 18:20) After Abraham boldly interceded with the Lord for the souls of men, the Lord sent Angels to literally take Lot’s family by the hand and lead them out before He would allow judgment to fall.

In our day and age mankind has pushed God too far.  He has warned us in His written Word this day was coming.  Instead of walking in fear, we have reason to rejoice for He has provided THE WAY!

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Throughout scripture we are given examples of God’s divine approach to sinful man.  FEAR NOT!  Don’t be afraid!  I don’t want to hurt you.  I want to offer you a Way of Escape!

1 John 4:18  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

He IS perfect love!  He is also our “Redeemer.”

Job 19:25  For I know that my Redeemer lives,  And He shall stand at last on the earth;

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I know You are my Redeemer.  I place my trust in You.  I know the Father God has sent you to offer me a WAY of escape.  You give me strength to endure and You alone make me an overcomer.  Thank You for all You have done to give me peace and calm in the midst of the storms of life.  I have no fear, for You are with me as my Comforter.  I choose to step into You, my Ark and my deliverer.  In Jesus name.  Amen!
