Richard L Deemy: Editor

Many years ago Bill Gaither wrote a song in which this statement was made, “Let the Church be the Church.”  I truly believe the Spirit of God is demanding the Church/The Body of Christ on the Earth, live up to it’s calling and empowering.

When we are adopted into the family of God, we become like our father. We are created in his image and after his likeness.  We do not yet know what we shall be like. We only know that when we see him we will be like him.  Until that day, we are commissioned to do the work of Christ on the Earth.  This is what the Apostle Peter tells us:

2 Peter 1:3-4 (NKJV) as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

“Church isn't where you meet. Church isn't a building. Church isn't what you do. Church is who you are. Church is the human outworking of the person of Jesus Christ.  Let's not go to Church, let's be the Church!” -(Bridget Willard)

God’s morality brings God’s character.  God’s character is given to us to establish order within the individual, and within society.  The absence of God’s morality in the person, in the family and in society, ushers in chaos.

When we are remade “in the image of God,” through receiving Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we now have his Character abiding within us through the Holy Spirit.  Everything he has now belongs to us.  Everything he did, we now can do through His abiding presence.

John 14:12 (NKJV) “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

God told Abraham, “Everywhere your foot shall tread, I have given it to you.”  That is authority and possession!  We operate under a better covenant than Abraham!  We have been commanded to push back darkness wherever it is found!

Luke 10:17-20 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”

18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

Mark 16:17-19 (NKJV) And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

The Holy Spirit is saying to us, “Do you believe this?  Then do this!”

The Apostle James said to us, “James 2:18 (NKJV) But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

In other words, “talk is cheap.”  LET THE CHURCH BE THE CHURCH!

PRAYER:  Heavenly Father, thank you for making me in Your image and after Your likeness.  Help me fulfill Your call upon my life.  Thank You for giving me everything I need for living out life and enabling me to act like a godly person through the inner power of Your Holy Spirit.  I want to please You in all that I do and never again bring shame upon Your name.  Thank You for forgiving me when I make a mistake.  Amen!
