WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TO?

PRAYER:  Father, forgive me for being so apathetic in my service to you.  Forgive me for not listening when you have tried to impress upon me the urgency of the hour.  You have told us many times to “watch and pray.”  Please help me to have the love and courage to be bold in approaching my family and friends and invite them to experience the same joy which I have in you.  I don’t want them to go into hell. I do want them to have a chance to receive grace and mercy at your hand.  Thank you Lord for giving me a second chance!

THE GOOD REPORT

“So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’  (Luke 16:22-23)  Scripture reading Luke 16:19-31

WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TO?

There is so much apathy today regarding the teaching of Jesus concerning the end times and the need to be prepared for his coming.  As much as it disturbs me I can fully understand why Jesus constantly warned us that men would be blind and ill prepared.  Even as he warned Peter, James and John in the garden,  Mark 14:37-38 Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour? 38 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

He is not talking here to unbelievers but believers.  I am very concerned about those in the Church in these last days who will be caught off guard and be left out in the cold.

Recently I was talking with a dear friend of mine who continues to suffer from the trauma he witnessed in Vietnam.  He shared with me the tragedy, suffering and carnage he witnessed and the senseless loss of life, much of which came from “friendly fire.”  He related to me how he witnessed a nighttime firefight where many Americans were killed and he heard them crying out in screams of agony and death. Men crying out to their mothers with their dying breath.

As I thought about the horror and anguish he witnessed that day and how it is just a glimpse of the horror and torment those who find themselves cast into hell will experience.  The only difference is that warfare and it’s hideous effects come and go with each generation, where being banished to hell will never cease.  Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Jesus describes it in:

Matthew 13:41-42 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Hell is a very real place and worse than any earthly event can duplicate.  Even the atrocities which mankind has imagined against each other generation after generation cannot compare.

This will be the destiny of any who reject Christ and His gospel.  This includes family members, friends and all who make light of the need to be saved.  I pray that we all WAKE UP before it is too late!  This is nothing to put off until a more convenient time.

2 Corinthians 6:2  For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

First of all make sure of your own salvation and then do everything you can to convince your loved ones they also need to admit their need for a Savior and Repent of their sins, making Jesus Christ the Lord of their lives.  Jesus means what he says and every word will surely come to pass!
