Jeremiah 30:21 And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the LORD.

Jeremiah 30:22 And ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

WE are the ones who control how near or how far we are from God.

It is not that we can physically get up and walk over to Him. It is how much we yearn for His presence to be near, around, and in us.

Our earnestness and willingness to expend our energy seeking Him will affect Him and cause Him to be found by us.

1 Chronicles 28:9 And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

Do you remember back when you loved something so much, that you wanted to own it?

You found time to see it, see pictures of it, and be where it was. You saved your money to buy it or you schemed about how you could possess it.

You did not stop until you owned it and it was your possession.

It was your consuming passion, your first love, and your heart’s desire to be near, and own that possession. You had to own and be near what you loved.

God is pointing out to us that, if you want God, and are willing to consume yourself with finding Him, He will not only be found of you but He will help you find Him.

Isaiah 41:13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

God is a personality, not an object that sits idly by while you expend your energies in futile searching. He made us to be His friends and He wants us to find Him.

It is our sin, which keeps us from God. God is love and cannot abide sin, which is NOT LOVE; so, when we sin, God cannot be near us.

That is why we cannot please God without faith. Our faith believes that God is real and will reward us (with Himself) when we seek Him with all our heart.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

We will find God when WE search for Him with all OUR hearts.

Many believe that they can learn about God and get close to Him with knowledge but the devil knows about God and will live forever in Hell.

James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Those people who believe they can get close to God just by knowing something about Him are NOT close to Him. They are trusting in man’s knowledge and men’s teachings.

Isaiah 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

God draws near to those who put their heart into finding Him. So, hang out where He hangs out, read the words that He wrote and speaks, look for Him in the heavens and the earth, learn to recognize His Holy Spirit when it moves in someone’s life, mind and heart, learn about the things that please God and DO THEM, talk to Him (He IS listening), believe what He says and does and understand that it is for your good, and give Him a permanent home in your mind and heart, so He can always be with you and He will.

1Corinthians 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

1Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

God is as close or as far away from you as YOU WANT Him to be. It’s not that we can, of ourselves, get close to God. It is He that will get close to us as He sees our love and struggle to find Him.

As a hurt and fearful animal yields to a kind and gentle soul, so our God will yield His presence to those who will not hurt Him.
