439 GOD WILL TEACH YOU.

Hebrews 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

When has ‘learning’ been fun for you?

Even from the very beginning, we have to be prompted to learn. As soon as you were born, someone smacked your bottom to teach you to breathe. They taught you to ask for things by letting you go without; until you screamed your lungs out at three in the morning, they never volunteered to get up and feed you.

They taught you to walk by letting you fall.

They taught you not to lie by smacking your bottom. They taught you to obey by smacking your bottom.

Even your own body teaches you by causing you pain. Your nerves scream bloody murder when you bash your elbow, hammer your thumb, or kick an immovable object. You learn that stupidity and disobedience is very painful.

This is God trying to teach you to listen to Him. He gave you the dirt which makes up your body and the way it works, He gave you your parents to love you and discipline you, and He gave you your position in life to teach you how to live in it.

Isaiah 48:17 Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

God loves you but He uses pain as a tool to teach us. God considers all humanity to be His children but those who willfully disobey have become His enemies.

Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

Proverbs 15:10 Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.

It takes more energy to resist God’s discipline than it does to obey but there is strength in a crowd and the wicked gather together with each other to resist the correcting of the Lord.

Job 36:10 He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

God’s love wishes us to live and be righteous and He is ever teaching, preaching, and witnessing to us through those things we can see, hear, and touch. God’s creation, which we call ‘nature’ witnesses of God, we can hear the plants, animals, birds, insects, wind, waters, and every other sound and know the soft ones and the hurtful ones, being taught, of God, those to trust and those to avoid, and we can touch and be touched and learn which of those touches to trust.

A discipline or correction will have a pleasant and profitable end for us, even though it is painful and disheartening while it lasts.

Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

God taught Jesus, His beloved son, by the things that He, Jesus, suffered. Should we expect to be treated any differently?

God LOVES us enough to teach and correct us.

Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

Hebrews 12:7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

As a loving and faithful parent will correct his child and strive to teach them the correct way to live, so God teaches us and corrects us in the hope that we will learn to love Him and live.

Proverbs 23:13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.

All things work together for good to them who love the lord. God will enable and enrich you for anything you suffer for Him; even if you only learn something about or for yourself, it is still for and from Him. We are His children so, your gain is His glory. God bless, Sarah. :D
