Ezekiel 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

I believe that I can offend almost everyone with this posting.

God, our creator, owns everything, including us.

I have seen news articles and videos where people have demonstrated peaceably and not so peaceably for their rights. The truth is, is that they have none.

The only right I can think of which humanity may have is the right to hear the truth. This does not mean that they will always hear it or that it will ever be told to them but God is trying, through His word and His people to get the truth to every ear.

Any ‘right’ which people believe they have and was given to them by a person, government or nation no longer exists because that person, government and/or nation no longer exists in that form.

Any ‘right’ that is given or was given to another stopped with the death of the giver or the giver losing power over the authority to give this right.

Every person is given a life and position in God and in His creation. God gave them their parents, their nationality, their country, their health, their length of life, and their everything. He is influenced by their parents, their heritage, mankind’s sinfulness, world events and their ancestors’ closeness or distance from a relationship to God.

Eve lost womankind their position among men when she let the devil, using the form and voice of the reptile; talk her into disobeying God’s command to her mate, Adam.

Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

From that curse onward, God will not honour any woman taking upon herself the leadership over her husband. At the same time, any woman submitting to her husband’s rule will be honoured; if not in this life, then in God’s eternity.

1Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

God’s promise was to Abraham and continued through Isaac and his descendants. Isaac was Abraham’s second son but born to Sarah, Abraham’s first wife. Even though Abraham treated her well, she still called him ‘lord’ to honour his position over her in their relationship.

Genesis 21:12 And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

Children also are a woman’s gift to her husband and are to be obedient to their parents. Any child who cursed their parents was to be put to death for their insolence.

Leviticus 20:9 For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.

Children were also taken and sold whenever their fathers could not make good on their debt.

2Kings 4:1 Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the LORD: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.

Slavery was acceptable with God to pay back debt or when an enemy was captured, they could be slaves rather than being killed, but the slave owner was under obligation to care for his slaves.

Leviticus 25:39 And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant:

Leviticus 25:45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.

We are to obey and serve those in authority over us as if they were put there by God; because they were.

Colossians 3:22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:

Those who laud their ‘rights’ simply want to be in control and be obeyed. THEY want to be the masters and have everyone else serve them. This is arrogance, which will get nothing from God.

Having possessions means having responsibilities for the wellbeing of those souls God has given us. As God cares for the souls He owns, so we are to care for the souls He has placed in our care.

God has called us to the service of His precious possessions; each other.

We have no rights but God has given us an obligation for the wellbeing of all that He owns. Isn’t THAT a high enough calling without angering Him with our selfish wish for ‘rights’?

I'm not disappointed, Sarah. You may be right, the forum people might like to 'chew' into this one.

Hopefully I won't disappoint you too much, Stephen, when I say that I was not offended. :) This could be an interesting topic for discussion in the Christian Debates forum. I know you are busy, but please pray about entering the forum arena here. I know that the posters would enjoy having some new blood.... oops... I mean some new viewpoints. Blessings ~ Sarah
