Where's the Fizz?

I've been studying the book of Acts lately and am super impressed by the boldness of the early church in its witnss for Christ.  It was a group of dedicated Christians willing to sacrifice all (lives included) to serve the Lord.  Comparing today's church, I see a major difference.  It is like buying a coke at McDonald's only to discover the CO2 is out and the coke is flat.  There is no Fizz.  The early church was full of fizz as a result of complete surrender and the filling of the Holy Spirit.  Could it be that believers today need more dedication to God and the proper guidance of Scripture combined with the power of the Spirit?  I believe that would solve the problem.

I agree! A lot of churches are going "flat". Maybe they need a little shake up to make the "fizz" come back to life... Jesus is the "fizz" needed.. many churches forget Him

I witness on a regular basis. I know most of my neighbors, and reach out to others through online groups and telephone calls. The church can only get the fizz back when it follows the commandment of the Lord, " And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

Meanwhile, we pray and make sure our lives are in His control.

It is good that you are studying Acts and have made a very important observation. But it also brings up a few questions, as follows:

1. Is your church or group "flat" or "fizzy"?
2. Are you willing to be a partner with Jesus to help make it "fizzier"?
3. Do you have a love for those who are lost and headed for Hell?
4. Is there some Christian that you can team up with (like they did in Acts) to go out in your area to win others for Jesus?

For you see, as Jesus has laid this concern on your heart, He wants to empower you to lead the way. There will be those along the way that will join you as you step out in faith and there will those who oppose you because they are bound by chains of fear, but pray for Jesus to give you boldness like in Acts, so that many of the lost can be won for Him.

Allen, this is a very interesting comment. I agree with you. I think that the salt has lost its savor both in and out of the church today. The question is, how do we get it back?
How about starting a forum for a discussion of the? Blessings ~ Sarah
