Beauty Inside and Outside
- 1 Chronicles 16:29
Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
One important way to give glory to the name of the Lord is to give something to Him. In the verse an offering is something of sufficient value that would be acceptable to give glory unto the Lord. No, your pocket change is not acceptable if you have much more than that.
The other thing that you have to give is WORSHIP.
The beauty of holiness is not talking about your holiness although you are expected to live holy before the Lord. The reason that it is not your holiness is because of the word BEAUTY.
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
Firstly, you must be born of the Spirit of God to qualify as a true worshipper. Being born- again gives you God’s perfect holiness and the CONSTANT INNER BEAUTY.
Born- again people who have God’s perfect BEAUTY of holiness can still be at a baby stage in their walk to perfect their own holiness, therefore their holiness BEAUTY may be lacking in some ways. So they need to approach before God in His Beauty of Holiness while they are still sincerely improving their own holiness. Their holiness may vary from time to time but God’s holiness imputed to them is perfect. See if you can profit from the example of Genesis 35. It shows how some believers’ holiness was NOT CONSTANT.
35 And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
2 Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:
3 And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.
4 And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.
- 2 Chronicles 20:21
And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever.
You can see there in the verse above that the BEAUTY of holiness that should be PRAISED is not your own BEAUTY of holiness but the Lord’s.
- Psalm 27:4
One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
The desire to behold the CONSTANT BEAUTY of the Lord in His house cannot be attained without asking Him for that desire to be granted. You cannot obtain it by yourself. When a born-again person enters into the New Covenant the Beauty of the Lord is inside him or her. Here the Psalm is not talking about the CONSTANT INNER BEAUTY of the believer but the actual APPEARANCE BEAUTY of the Lord. All the believers that the Father gave to the Lord Jesus will get to see His BEAUTY often.
- Psalm 29:2
Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
This is similar to the first verse used in this article.
- Psalm 90:17
And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
Here you can see a prayer for the OUTWARD MANIFESTATION (be upon us) of the BEAUTY of the Lord. I do not understand that fully. I think of the face of Moses glowing with God’s glory. I think of the joyful faces of many born-again Christians rejoicing as they worship their heavenly Father. I also think of Stephen’s face as he was stoned to death by wicked unbelievers.
The prayer request is also about good works which could also mean to show the BEAUTY OF THE WORKS which were done in righteousness.
- Psalm 96:9
O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.
The call is for worship of the Lord in spirit and in truth which can be done only if you are born of the Spirit of God.
- Isaiah 28:5
In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
This verse is talking about the remnant of Israel at the coming of the Lord to take away their sins. Israel will be BEAUTIFIED by the Lord Jesus. It shall be an EVERLASTING BEAUTY.
- Isaiah 61:3
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.
Wow! Amazing! Trees of righteousness...or shall I say Trees of BEAUTY---the BEAUTY of holiness INSIDE AND OUTSIDE! That is what awaits you, O remnant of Jacob.
- Lamentations 2:1
How hath the Lord covered the daughter of Zion with a cloud in his anger, and cast down from heaven unto the earth the beauty of Israel, and remembered not his footstool in the day of his anger!
Sins caused loss of the BEAUTY. Did their sins cause Jesus to lose His BEAUTY? Certainly not! He hid His BEAUTY from them for a time so that He could REVEAL IT UNTO THE GENTILES. Now the Gentiles are seeking Israel and calling them back to the BEAUTY OF THE NATIONS of the SAVED. He is the Lamb that was slain for the sins of the world.
What are you waiting for Arabia? And you Iran, Iraq, Malaysia, India and Pakistan, will you wait until it’s too late? It is still your time to come into the BEAUTY OF THE Lord.
- Ezekiel 27:3
And say unto Tyrus, O thou that art situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord God; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect beauty.
Long time ago Tyrus became beautiful but its beauty was not the BEAUTY OF HOLINESS. Like Tyrus, you can think that your beauty is perfect and is the only beauty that you need. Think again!
- Ezekiel 28:12
Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.
Woe, woe, woe! There is the kind of beauty that will come to nought. Let everyone pay attention. There is coming destructions from the Lord and the beauty that does not please Him will come to an end.
The birth of Jesus, His death on a cross, His burial, and His resurrection with a glorified (BEAUTIFUL) immortal body is WONDERFUL NEWS! Believe it and be BEAUTIFIED.
With Love and Peace to you.
