Goodbye Eydie

Eydie Gorme and Steve Lawrence have been more or less ignored by the media in the last few decades (early 2000s I think was their last big show) but for those people who like watching an affectionate husband and wife team they were one of the best. Their rich harmonies and amiable husband and wife banter put a smile on the face of more than a few people and were a marked contrast to the sacrastic infighting of the Sony and Cher model. They stayed married for a lifetime. Went through the trials and tribulations of having one of their sons die in his twenties and stayed true to their brand of music. I'm glad they never recorded "Roll Over Beethoven" or tried to be rockers. That just wasn't them. Technically you could classify them under Big Band and light pop/showbiz music but Steve and Eydie left a special imprint on the heart, you could call happiness.

I'm glad Steve and Eydie were here. My condolences to Steve Lawrence. Goodbye Eydie and may God Bless you. You certainly blessed us.

You can find some of her duets with Steve Lawrence and Carol Burnett on You Tube.

Thanks for sharing this. I found her recordings on YouTube, but no notice of her death.
